About
The Riveter is a magazine that celebrates narratives and longform journalism by women. We are dedicated to exposing the power of women’s experiences and women as storytellers, because, as two female twentysomething journalism students, we noticed a void in the representation of female longform journalists. This is our effort to fill it. We don’t believe in stories that can be summed up in a sell line.
We publish original stories by women about any subject, located in any place, seen from the female perspective. We also profile these women writers who are not getting appropriate mainstream recognition. We foster a space for these powerful discourses to mingle.
This is riveting content.
Cheers,

What We Need
The very reason we created The Riveter is to support writers. We value their work and the energy required for creating longform journalism and narratives. Their stories are the backbone of The Riveter; therefore, we will not sacrifice the part of our budget that supports them. We plan to publish four stories per month and to pay $150 per story. The stories we choose will provide our topics for commentary in The Column and in interviews with writers.
We are asking for monetary support because we want to be a pioneering publication that is dedicated to paying for writers' work. With this dedication, we will be able to increase the diversity of writers’ voices and reach demographics and sub-cultures that cannot, under regular freelance standards, afford to write for free. These funds will also help with outreach, design, branding, maintaining our website presence and compensating the people who currently work so hard for us pro-bono:
