ABOUT US:
We are a group of enthusiastic first-time film makers and producers.
We all have a passion for film; from acting, producing and directing, to makeup/sfx, artwork and writing. Every one of us have put in time, effort and an excess of creative juices to get our dream project off the ground.
We have a team of actors, a producer, a director, crew and many other talented people who are ready to make this project become a reality.
"The Rough Gig" team also won the 'Best Pitch' award against ~20 other films at the 2020 Cine Circle UK Film & TV Job Fair in London, as voted for by a jury of industry professionals!
We’d love you to join us on this journey and to have your support so we can make you the best film possible!
STORY
Ryan Howe has built his successful stand-up career on making fun of the strange and quirky characters from his home village. But when he reluctantly agrees to come back by his day-dreaming old friend to do a show for “old time’s sake”, he thinks “What could go wrong?”.
Will the village he has built his career on ridiculing accept him back with open arms, or will this be the roughest gig of his career?
A tale of friendship, weirdness, and very British fun set in a village everyone is sure to recognize… not to mention the stripper, frisky grannies, inappropriate vicar, nature-loving poet, and the village idiot...
CAST AND CREW
Dana Ben - DIRECTOR / PRODUCER
Dana graduated from Brighton Film School and also spent 8 years in acting school.
She has taken on a combination of acting, modelling and many behind camera rolls. But behind the camera is where she discovered her real passion.
Her passion is to become a director (some people call her "Sassy Director").
"The Rough Gig" will be her first film project as a director and along with the 50 strong cast and crew she has assembled, they want to make this film the best film they possibly can and enter themselves into upcoming short film festivals.
Nicola Harrison - PRODUCER aka Wonder Woman
Music, acting and performing is in Nicola's blood. She comes for a family of musicians, actors and artists that she affectionately refers to as 'The Von Trapp family'.
As a child she performed in the children's youth choir and in open air productions at Sheffield Park, of Oscar Wilde's - The Selfish Giant. As she got older she tackled other role such as Nancy in Oliver and sang in many other concerts and presentations. Eventually she took herself off to Drama College and covered Acting, Music, Dance and backstage production.
Her role within 'The Rough Gig' family has been vast to say the least. She has tackled everything from photography, make-up, concept art and design, script writing, actor wrangling and expert cake baking.
She is basically Wonder Woman.
Ryan Hill - WRITER / LEAD ACTOR
For as long as he can remember, performing and creating is something that he wanted to do. At school as a teenager he found out that he had a talent for comedy, and that making people laugh and smile was his forte. He was lucky enough to join The Marlowe theater in Canterbury. He trained, worked and performed there for 6 years (2010-2016). He also performed with RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) and in television programs (Sky Atlantic's, The Tunnel). Whilst at The Marlowe, he started writing his own plays and comedy sketches, some of which he already performed on stage and some, like this new project "The Rough Gig", he wants to translate to film.
Benjamin Jones - LEAD ACTOR
Ever since he was child, Ben has had a passion for writing and performing. As an actor with professional stage and film training in both the UK and US, he initially began performing in local youth theatre, before going on to become a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and the RADA youth training program. He then went on to receive his professional acting training and experience in the US, attending drama school at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Since graduating, Ben has acted professionally in a variety of TV, film, commercial and stage productions, including roles for Sony Pictures (Absolute Evil) CBS television (Without a Trace), the Hallmark Channel (Chasing a Dream), and the Discovery Channel (various commercials). Since returning to the UK, Ben continues to act and write, as well as teaching drama at a local performing arts school in Ramsgate. Ben is extremely excited to bring the fantastic character of Tim Roughley to life in the Rough Gig, and to finally get to work on a comedy and not a drama!

We have the equipment, actors and crew ready to go!
The script has been developed for quite a while and we are confident with our story.
However, there are always risks that production and post production might come across.
These issues may take us longer to fix, for example editing in post-production may take up extra time than anticipated due to us wanting to put out the best product possible.
We have filmed some scenes already and plan to finish by the end of the October, and to have the full film finished and through post production by the end December 2020.
