The Static Sea is a twisted ghost story that combines forgotten queer WW1 history, the birth of radio and the ghosts of Flat Holm Island.
Every Monday we post story transmissions in our Discord. We've created a channel called #thestorysofar where you can catch up and the community is very happy to help support you if you get lost in Discord’s web. Transmissions run, for free, every week until the live event on 30th March 2024, so come join us!
If Discord isn't a suitable platform for you, but you want to stay up to date with the story that is revealed in the transmissions, then CLICK HERE and sign up to the dedicated story update mailing list. A round-up of all the story updates will be sent straight to your inbox every week.
Warning - these updates will include spoilers from those in Discord who figure out the answers to the clues and puzzles

An IMPORTANT INFO email has been sent regarding the removal of the lottery tickets from the Indiegogo perks to comply with the site's terms and conditions. Additionally, there’s information on an alternative perk which is a donation to the Flat Holm Society Charity who look after the island.
Every backer of this project will receive a link to the livestream on 14th February at 18:00 (GMT) for the big reveal. Make sure to mark it in your calendars and keep an eye on our socials for further updates.

Stormjar is predominantly just the two of us, it's our life. We met working on "2.8 Hours Later", the world's largest street game in the 2010s. Since then, Soph has worked with leading immersive organisations on ambitious projects, including a one-of-a-kind festival experience for an audience of 60,000, the world's first amazement park, and a 12-hour BAFTA-nominated theatrical broadcast (also on a British island). Jim has been working in multi-sensory storytelling and innovative technology, creating dining experiences for astronauts and digital experiences paired with the world's rarest chocolate.
We make all the props, CGI, music, film, and art for Stormjar projects in our spare room. Everyone involved in this project is voluntary.
We want to say a massive thank you to The Flat Holm Society Charity, Cardiff Harbour Authority, Cardiff Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council, the World Experience Organisation, Duchess Media, everyone who has contributed to making this experience possible so far (including those in Discord who have been involved in the transmissions), our Executive Producer Alex Dean, the warden and volunteers on Flat Holm Island itself, and the teams at Indiegogo and RallyUp.
Everyone who has supporting this project and becoming part of our communty are bringing The Static Sea to life
See you on the island
Jim & Soph
"Most artists spend their lives pursuing their passion project. We are launching Stormjar with ours. We want this to be the mission statement for what we make and do - amazing historic space, democratic, community driven, one of a kind experiences. The world is on fire. Nothing makes sense. Come be part of something that matters to you."
