The Tortoise’s Hair begins with a legend passed down among tortoises that a great change is coming, and they must be prepared. The change would bring an end to the world they knew, but it would not be a loss of life or happiness. Instead, it would bring a new world to replace the old.

One day, a tortoise would be born without any hair. This tortoise would have the special task of ushering in the changes and helping others prepare. However, this tortoise would have a choice to make: to fit in with the other tortoises, or to be true to themselves.

Frankie, the main character of the story, meets a wise tortoise who tells her about this choice. Frankie is torn between fitting in and being herself. She goes on a journey and learns to love herself for who she is and to forgive others for their differences. In the end, she chooses to be herself and this simple decision leads to a change in the world.

As a result of Frankie's choice, the world is transformed into a place of beauty and happiness, filled with flowers, trees, and grass. The hair disappears from all the tortoises, and they all become loving creatures with simple hard shells and soft hearts. They finally see the beauty that was hidden from them.

Frankie's journey becomes legendary and her story is shared throughout the land. From that moment on, tortoises have never been the same.
