Short Summary
Hi! My name is Dan Couri and I am an NYC-based independent filmmaker. I have long been passionate about film and the ability it has to make a substantial impact on the lives of people around the world. I realized that I would like to be part of this impact and decided to start sharing my ideas by writing original screenplays. I have been writing screenplays since high school, but never brought my ideas to life until last year, when I directed and produced my short film Swiped. (2019).
The film was awarded Best Mystery Short at the Independent Shorts Awards and multiple "official selections" from various festivals across the country. I was overwhelmed by the film's amazing reception, which was not expected. After all, it was the first film that I directed and produced.
Since I released Swiped. last year, I have been dying to get back on set and bring another one of my ideas to life. I have written a new screenplay for a film tentatively titled The Unhired. The film will focus on the unexpected bond that forms between a young man struggling to find a job and a lonely elderly man who was recently diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer. It will make you laugh and cry and tackles some meaningful themes that I think will resonate with audiences everywhere.
What We Need & What You Get
The script is complete for this film. All I need is the money to fund it. I am looking to ideally raise $3,000. This money would go towards paying the entire cast and crew, securing locations, providing food and transportation for the cast and crew, and any expenses that come up during production.
Everyone who donates will be granted early access to screening the film and will be given credit as a "special thanks" during the end credits of the film.
The Impact
Your contribution will be helping me bring a project that is very personal to me to life. As with all of my screenplays, I drew some inspiration from my real-life experiences and poured them into this project. While the story is fictional, it touches on some deep subjects that I think are important to spark conversations about.
