Short Summary
At this point, "Bryce McGraw" is still just a script, and I am just a screenwriter (without an agent). Therefore, without an agent, the best way for me to get my writing noticed is to submit it to screenwriting competitions and register the script with the WGA.
All of this costs money -- that is why I started this little campaign. To raise some funds to enter the script into some nicer festivals, get my name out there.
The script will be revised once more this summer before I get really, really serious about submitting it, but those deadlines are approaching rapidly -- so I will have to act fast on some of them.
That's where your support comes in...
You can read a short excerpt of the script here --

What We Need & What You Get
Just to get a script noticed, it gets pretty expensive:
- Most notable film festivals have sepaerate, but equally impressive screenwriting competitions.
- These competitions are attended by, and judged by big decision makers from LA and New York. If a screenwriter or screenplay fares well at one of these competitions, there is a chance the screenwirter will get some attention from folks with money. MAYBE the screenplay will sell, and be considered for production into an actual film.
- Some of these script competeions demand that you submit your screenplay on bound on paper -- about $30 a pop.
- All of these script competions have non-refundable entrance fees (win or lose) -- about $65 a pop.
- Also, before you send your script anywhere, the smartest thing to do is register your script with the Writers' Guild of America, to ensure no one steals your idea (it's like copyrighting) -- this costs $25 to do.
The Impact
Your contribution would help alleviate some of these costs for me, also:
- This script is my thesis project for Graduate School here at FSU. It is, by far, the best thing I have written up to this point.
- The film industry is a self-motivated career. I can't sit around waiting for someone to give me work. I have to get my work out there for people to see. These competitions are the best way for a writer to get their name and voice to the ears of the people who matter.
- Simply being in these competitions proves to agents and producers that I am serious about what I do. Simply entering is a step forward for my career.
