Hello and thanks for visiting
I'm Emma Morley, I'm the writer producer, and now, director. I have a clear vision of the film I want to create. A gentle, slow paced tale of friendship, complimented with a beautiful musical score that will capture elements of nature. The garden is the star!
I've twenty years experience in administration and logistics in high end TV drama, theatre and film archives and I'm delighted to tell you about the fundraising campaign for this project.

What is the film about?
The Walled Garden is the story of a newly seeded friendship between Fliss, a 70 year old volunteer in a stately home, and Matthew, a 25 year old Victorian undergardener who has travelled through time from 1874 to present day to save the kitchen garden he manages, with love and care, on the estate.
The garden is the star of the show. It is enchanted, magical, mystical, has the power to heal...not perhaps physically, but to sooth the soul. Fliss and Matthew's fledging friendship is seen from the garden's perspective. We will film mainly handheld and peek in through the plants at Fliss & Matthew's mutual fascination with this peaceful brick-walled sanctuary, capturing an air of the mystical and ethereal.

The Team
My TV credits include: Production Manager on I Hate Suzie (Bad Wolf/Sky Atlantic) and Zapped S3 (Baby Cow Productions/UKTV); and Production Coordinator on three series of Poldark (Mammoth Screen/BBC1) as well as Tina & Bobby (ITV) and series 2 of Galavant (ABC).
Director of Photography, Rob Hill, and I go way back to the late 1990s when he was part of the camera team on the TV medical drama Peak Practice. Rob will bring his wonderful camera skills from over two decades in Broadcast TV to realise our vision!
See FAQs for more detailed biogs.
The crew will be a team of trusted and respected TV and film professionals I have worked with over the past few years. Our production values will be very high and we are bringing together a great team, including editor Tim Hodges (Poldark, Doctor Who). We have found a location we love, which we will reveal in weeks to come.

Why do we want to make it?
For us, we wish to produce a high quality and beautiful feel good film that can showcase our talents. Why this tale? Because the fulfilled life of the 'third age' isn't celebrated enough in TV and film and I want to capture the vibrancy of life for the over seventies, and, in this story, show the contrast between Fliss' freedom and youthfulness and the more restricted and regimented life of Matthew who is forging a career as a gardener in the Victorian era.
The Walled Garden will be a poetic film capturing the beauty of nature, friendship, community, life and legacy. Come and escape to The Walled Garden with us.
What We Need to Make this Happen?
We need to raise £50,000 to make the film over 3 days with high production values. This is for a budget that includes cast and crew fees, location fees, insurance and legal costs, camera, lighting, sound and edit equipment rental.
The Walled Garden will be made under my production company, Randombird Productions Ltd, a registered company (10306896) and a member of PACT.
Any contribution, however large or small, would be hugely appreciated and we will be hugely grateful.
Perks
To help our project grow we've partnered with Derbyshire company Shop Reddish to offer a range of beautiful gardening gifts which we plan to dispatch in October 2020.
All gardening gifts can be shipped Worldwide apart from the wildflower seeds which can only be shipped to our UK contributors.
We're also offering thank you social media shout outs and/or thank you credits on the finished film. An advanced download link to the film will be sent to ALL contributors on completion of the film in 2021.

Why does our film matter?
The Walled Garden will celebrate community, the richness of a fulfilled retirement, what a community can achieve when they work together, the therapy gardening brings to millions, and provide a touch of fantasy and escapism that I think we all need in current times!
Filming
We have a window of opportunity with the flowers, vegetables and fruit that will be the co-stars in our tale. Because we are dependent on the seasons, we aim to shoot next spring.
