My name is Christine Walter and I have been diagnosed with
Schizo-effective disorder which is why my book is titled The Works of a
Schizophrenic.
My book consists of various artwork I have done
over the years. Artwork in oil pastel, pen, charcoal and pencil crayon.
My writing consists of a play, poetry and journal entries which have
also been over the years. When I was in high school I won five Gordon C
Johnson awards for my writing.
Today I would like to share my art and my writing with people like
you! I would like to reach as many people as I can. I want people who
have an illness or disability to realize that they can also make their
dreams come true. For people who don't really know anyone with a
disability I want to help get rid of the stigma. Often people who have
disabilities have been abused themselves. They also have suicidal thoughts and unfortunately sometimes they take their own life. I want
to offer hope from my book to as many people as I can. Don't put down
your pen, don't put down your paintbrush, what ever it is you love doing
do it and don't give up.
My book of art and text is complete. I'm asking for funding to publish
my book. To publish a hardcover book with an authors expertise I'm
looking at roughly 700 dollars. I'm asking for 1000 to cover any taxes
as well as advertising on my part i.e. printing costs for the book.
Most of my artwork is quite colorful.
I am ready to publish and that is what I plan to do as soon as my money is raised.
I
do attend writing groups and plan on going to word on the street for
further inspiration. I do have a publishing company in mind, however I
am still doing some comparisons to make sure I choose the right one.
If you are unable to donate at this time please tell your friends
about 'The Works of a Schizophrenic' by Christine Walter. Perhaps you
will be able to purchase the book when it comes out and that would mean
everything to me!
