Meet Z - Founder of The Z KIT

Hi, I'm Zeshaun Mirza, creator of The Z KIT. I'm an Athletic Trainer with over a decade of experience working in the professional sports world. I've seen firsthand how injuries can derail even the most dedicated athletes and teams. That's why I created The Z KIT, a portable travel kit housing 15 pro-level tools designed to protect your body from injury.

Evolution of The Z KIT

The idea for The Z KIT began when I was helping a friend through a workout who was fresh off of major knee surgery. During that session, I used a number of resistance bands, muscle rollers and workout tools that I often carried around from client to client. After a few months, my friend improved greatly and called me back to ask if I had ever considered making my own kit. Not only had I already envisioned making my own kit but I knew how to pair it with my knowledge of rehab and recovery to make effective content that would help others. Since my friend had an extensive background in product manufacturing and was now sold on the concept, we became business partners and began our Z KIT journey. 

Since then, we have developed prototypes of the kit and went into mass production with a beta version in 2019. Since then, we have traveled all over the United States and other countries to perform training sessions with all types of athletes, developing a library of Z KIT training videos to share with our customers.

Design & Prototyping

We began this venture with the traveling athlete in mind. Which tools are most essential to maintaining their training and recovery when access to gyms and trainers isn't possible? How could we fit that into a kit that isn't too heavy and was also easy to pack? So we set out to test different bag sizes and to design the interior of The Z KIT to carefully fit each tool. Once we had our product designed, we began to make prototypes in order to test our kit  for quality and durability and determine the most convenient way to house each tool.

Manufacturing

We have a long history in product development. Our Operations Manager, Mike, has spent over 10 years in mainland China helping companies bring their product ideas through development to mass production. We've forged personal relationships with each of the factories we cooperate with and have been to their facilities multiple times to oversee production, quality control and progress. We are personal friends with the factory that not only produces The Z KIT but also packs the tools into each and every kit. We have worked with them on numerous projects in the past. We will be personally involved with the production on the ground and update our backers during each step with photo and video evidence of the kits being made, packed and shipped out.  

Fulfillment

We have already produced the first 100 units of the new Z KIT MINI with our factory in China and are ready to fulfill the order as soon as our initial goal is reached. Once we reach this goal, we will have enough capital to begin the production of the next batch of 400 units which will take approximately one month to complete. We expect to fulfill the regular Indiegogo orders in January of 2024.

Risks and Challenges 

Manufacturing and international shipping is rarely a straight-line process. With the holidays rapidly approaching, suppliers can be rushing to meet their production goals which sometimes leads to errors or delays. However, the factories we work with are people we've been cooperating with for years. Simply put, this not our first rodeo into creating a product and bringing it to market. We've spent the last few years hammering out the details so we could step forward and deliver a high-quality product, in a timely manner.
