After the greatest storm in recorded history ravaged a whole region of the Philippines...

The survivors of typhoon Haiyan are getting back on their feet. They are fighting to rebuild their homes, their families, their lives.

And according to them what they need the most are... jobs!

They need jobs to "help them help themselves" to fully recover from the tragedy that they went through.

And that is what TACLOB is set on accomplishing.

TACLOB is a collective of artists, designers, social workers, and entrepreneurs that have partnered with survivors and businessmen in disaster zones to  establish a social enterprise dedicated in providing immediate jobs for disaster survivors.

As a first initiative we will be training survivors to make "eco-friendly" and "disaster resilient" bags that they themselves appreciate and the rest of the world would want to have.

Meet COMPASSION

COMPASSION is an iconic, bright red, 50% upcycled, weather-resistant backpack which is made of:

Pre-Loved Jeans

Hi-Grade Japanese Truck Tarpaulins

Genuine YKK Zippers

Military-Grade Nylon Thread for all Stitching

Stylish Leather Lash Tabs

We are assuring you that with all these intricate elements put into the making of this bag... COMPASSION will endure your lifestyle.

But aside from these details... what excites us about COMPASSION is the functionality of it's interior jeans lining/large pocket which can snugly fit a 13" Macbook or any standard folder.

Yes, this bag does not only look good but it is very functional and handy as well... but more importantly, COMPASSION is not just a bag... it's a badge!

Get COMPASSION.  Give COURAGE.

Yes, when you get a COMPASSION backpack you help in creating immediate  and much needed jobs for Haiyan survivors. But COMPASSION does not stop there...

For every COMPASSION bag that you get, we will give a Haiyan child survivor a  specially designed backpack that will  prepare them in case of an emergency like a tsunami, storm surge and tidal waves!

Meet COURAGE

COURAGE is a multi-functional survival backpack that will equip young children to float!!!

Masterfully designed by a team of bag makers and designers, this backpack utilizes 2 empty two-liter PET bottles strapped to the side of the bag to enable a child to float.

Constructed with high-density, water resistant nylon fabric, it is double stitched with military-grade nylon thread to ensure its longevity.  We've also included reflective striping on the front and back that enhances visibility at night, or in times of search and rescue operations.

Everyone we've introduced the COURAGE backpack to is very excited about the bag.  Especially the school officials, parents, and child survivors!

COURAGE not only gives them a fighting chance in any case of emergency, it also helps address a deep emotional trauma of uncertainty that is still haunting children to this day.

Watch the video below to see how this amazing survival backpack works.

How Did We Choose our Funding Goal

Our goal of $157,500 is based on the amount needed to:

-Purchase the optimized combination of industrial sewing equipment

-Sign the lease on our reserved facility (in a typhoon/flood resilient area)

-Maintain a 6-month overhead budget

-Purchase the materials needed and pay a competitive salary to produce 2,500 COMPASSION backpacks for the world and 2,500 COURAGE backpacks for the children of Tacloban.

Additionally we will work with our partner NGOs to provide workshops in crisis preparedness, climate change awareness, and psycho-social trauma mitigation.

What are Some of Our Key Funding Points

$6,000 –  Minimum amount required to purchase one of each industrial sewing equipment required to produce COMPASSION/COURAGE.

$32,000 –  The optimal combination of industrial sewing equipment consisting of 24 High-Speed Industrial Sewing Machines, 8 Piping Machines, 1 Zigzag Machine, and 1 Bartacking Machine.  This combination of equipment allows for a scalable output of 64 COMPASSION/COURAGE backpacks made by 50 typhoon Haiyan survivors, per 8-hour shift.

$70,000 –  A fully optimized industrial sewing factory spread over 250 square meters (2,700 square feet) and equipped with comfortable sewing stations, a materials management/inventory department, administrative cubicles, and 6-months of overhead budget.  Due to the word-class textile production capability we can even open the doors to subcontract the facility and trained employees to other manufacturers who would like to manufacture in a disaster resilient community.  Whether it is through manufacturing TACLOB products or another company’s, we know that we are able to provide livelihood for the Haiyan survivors.

$157,500 –  TACLOB has become a brand that is accepted by the global community.  From here forward, the sky is the limit!

We have already been approached by various designers and businessmen who would like us to implement their ideas once we are setup.  Their ideas will become part of the TACLOB product line and will always adhere to three guiding principles:

  1.  To create jobs for the adults living in disaster zones by manufacturing products that the world wants

  2.   To utilize the proceeds of the global sales to manufacture products that a disaster community needs (i.e.  floating school backpacks, school supplies, and workshops)

  3.  To manufacture products that are either eco-friendly in design, or that address climate change issues.

As TACLOB's operational and sales efficiency increases, we become a scalable model that the world can use to rebuild any disaster zone.

Natural Disasters can Happen to Anyone and Anywhere

It's time to work together towards a Disaster Resilient World... a global community that watches out for each other when disasters strike.  Get Compassion and show the world that you care...

not only about creating jobs in disaster zones...

not only in helping children survivors...

but that you also believe that at this moment we must have each other's back!

Rest assured,

#WeGotYourBack
