Our Story

Award winning Writer & Director D.W. Alexander and Chris Poett have joined together to adapt an important piece of Native American mythology into a film masterpiece. With the blessing of the Choctaw Nation, "Little People" will be brought to life through imagery found in today's Hollywood style. This screenplay incorporates mythical creatures, trained dogs and Hollywood-worthy talent, to guide the viewers through a coming-of-age story to illuminate the importance of life choices.

D.W. Alexander is a rising star at the Colorado Film School known for his Directing and has developed an amazing "grass root" style in his work. His ability to squeeze every dollar to maximize the quality of film goes unmatched. With the evolution of his film career, Mr. Alexander has shown over and over that quality is an easily attainable goal no matter what the budget allows. Through his vast collection of accessible talent and technological contacts, Mr. Alexander most always produces good films. His prior work can be seen at www.wandererzfilmz.com

The Impact

The impact of the production and release of this film is 3 fold. We would like to present this film in its completed form to the Choctaw Nation so that a crucial piece of their heritage won't be lost and generations to come can continue to learn from this important mythology. We would like this film to also be a springboard for future movies through film festivals and public release. We also wish to strengthen the Colorado Film Community, showing that great indie films can come from outside of Los Angeles.

There is a concern in the Native American circles that the new generations are losing their heritage. Fewer and fewer young Native Americans are adopting the teaching and language of their elders. Many believe that this is due to the harsh life on the Reservations and the coming of consumerist ideals. We have a wonderful opportunity to work with the Choctaw Nation to help memorialize some of their values and teachings to show younger generations that the old ways are still relevant in today. Film is a good medium to keep the younger generations engaged and to demonstrate the importance of their culture.

Film in Colorado is not a new fly by night trent. It's always been here. Those late night shoots, those amazing mountain vistas, the hard working crew, all the things that make great film. Most of these things are at this point under a cover of darkness compared to Hollywood where you see film crews daily, shooting large budget productions. Films are like a forest; we all see the big trees. But when you take time to go to the forest you start to realize that its not just the big trees that make up the forest. Teamwork, dedication, pride and hard work are the things that make film in Colorado so much better than Hollywood. The common goal is what drives people to make a film in Colorado, and make it for far less than Hollywood costs. By donating to this production, you can help sustain the drive to succeed. There are no salaries or fat budgets, just a group of skilled people with a drive to make a masterpiece.

The impact of this film will span multiple generations. The Choctaw Nation is counting on us to help them preserve a piece of their heritage. This can be attainable for such a small cost. Help Colorado keep film in Colorado support the arts.
