Short Summary
We developed the Tow Bike to solve four main issues that people have when they want to transport a motorcycle:
- Loading a motorcycle onto a normal trailer using ramps is difficult and dangerous.
- Most people do not have sufficient space to store a motorcycle trailer, especially in densely populated areas like The Netherlands
- A motorcycle trailer with ground level loading is expensive.
- Buying a motorcycle trailer means that you have to go out to a store, it will never be sent to you in a box.
How it all began
I enjoy racing motorcycles with friends over week-ends, and we always have the same problem - how to transport race bikes to the tracks. Then my wife and I have another problem, how to take a large tent/supplies/water and the bicycles with us on holiday.
You see, we use bicycles a lot in Holland - and the country is also very densely populated, so real estate is precious. If we bought a trailer to transport either motorcycles, bicycles or camping gear, where would we put it?
I discussed these issues with a friend of mine that is an Industrial Designer - he has previously designed race related vehicles...we did some research too, and we discovered that my Honda CBR actually has the same length as my friend's Audi A3's width!

So we thought about designing a motorcycle trailer where the bike sits sideways. You won't need a frame or a floor, so that you can just lift it by the draw bar and lean it against the wall! Once the storage problem solved, and the motorcycle problem solved too, we realized that we actually have enough space on the back of it for 200kg of supplies and a large tent.

What We Need & What You Get
All the funds that we raise will be used to set up series production of the Tow Bike. We will not use the funds for personal consumption because the members of our team still have other incomes.
What we offer our backers is an innovative and well prized product that is intended for the road transport of a scooter, a medium sized motorcycle, bicycles, camping equipment and supplies.
Innovative because there is no motorcycle trailer on the market that offers ground level loading of your motorcycle and also allows you to take 200 kg of supplies (tent, tools, parts, food & beverage etc) with you.
But if you do not have a motorcycle, you can use the Tow Bike to load 4 mountain bikes and take 200 kg of supplies for a nice weekend in the woods.
This instant storage compact trailer has a HUGE loading
area at the back for luggage, an extra motorcycle, bicycles, camping gear, surf
boards (not longboards), a generator, food, water, a barbecue etc. When you get
to your destination and unpack, just flip the trailer up against a tree or a
wall to get it out of the way. There is no other trailer on the market that
offer you these options, including the sideways ground loading feature.
For example, say you transport a motorcycle to a mate that lives downtown.
If you show up with a tow bike, not only you can easily offload the bike, but
when you're done then you can lean the trailer against a wall or tree on the sidewalk
and you can park the car in a normal parking spot - no other trailer on the
market does this.
About the Tow Bike
Tow Bike offers a range of unique, ground level loading trailers for transporting motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. The ground level loading is lateral. These trailers can be equipped with several accessories such as camping sets, large storage boxes, universal trays, bicycle carriers, etc.

The most widely used modern suspensions in Europe are independent rubber suspensions. Each wheel has independent suspension, as opposed to a stiff beam with leaf springs - in this case, if one wheel hits a pothole, then the other wheel reacts too, resulting in instability.
In the IRS (Independent Rubber Suspension) axle, there is no contact between the swing arms and the axle casing. This takes out the low vibrations from the road surface, sparing all components including the chassis of vibration fatigue. Besides, it runs very quiet and is maintenance free for many years. The axle is dimensioned for 750kg, however IRS axles are regularly overloaded without any harm coming to them. The two tires, although 8in in diameter, are rated at DOUBLE the max payload - to ensure you will enjoy a long and safe tire life.
The chassis, once fully welded, is extremely strong. All components are either 2D or 3D laser cut with 0.1mm precision. It is robotically welded, resulting in an impeccable product that is Zn coated, rather than galvanized.
Compared to conventional trailer chassis, where the parts are bolted or riveted, this construction offers superior rigidity and stiffness while it is quite light.
The chassis has been computer designed with a safety factor of 10:1 in static stress. Dynamically, it will take roughly 3 times the listed payload, without problems.
