Our School:

It’s getting warm, which means the kids at Tallgrass Sudbury School are starting to dread summer. Yes, you read that right—a lot of our students wish school continued all year!
At Tallgrass, the answer to “what did you do today?” might be “made a robot,” or “went to the batting cage,” or “rescued a giant stuffed bear.” Our democratic school, which follows the Sudbury philosophy, has a unique way of looking at education. Kids create their own curriculum and are free to spend their time however they choose.

Significance of the Horse Mask:

Tallgrass staff member Helen is a self-described introvert who hates drawing attention to herself--not the first person you'd expect to don the horse head mask that pops up in mysterious and unexpected places. But to help out the school, Helen has agreed to step outside her comfort zone and let herself look ultra-silly. If we meet our fundraising goal for student scholarships by the first day of the new school year(September 7th, 2015), Helen will teach a class wearing the horse head mask some time during the first week of school--and let the resulting video be posted on YouTube!

The Impact of Your Donation:

Our goal is to raise $12,500 to help fund scholarships for children from families with limited resources who would like to attend our school. Tallgrass runs on a shoestring budget to keep a Sudbury education accessible to as many families as possible. More than 75 percent of our current students are on discounted tuition.
We believe every child should have the opportunity to attend a school that would help them thrive and become the best version of themselves. Please help us make this unique school available to more students who could benefit from freedom in education!
