About Us
We are starting production on our first 20-minute SAG short film entitled Turning Tables for a New York City short film competition. We all come from the service industry and while this film provides plenty of laughs, it is an introspective study of the self-doubt we each feel about our true passions every single day. Hopefully, the film can provide a small inspiration for anyone who feels too complacent, but is afraid to take a leap of faith into something new.
Nearly every successful person we've ever met has always told us the same thing: "Don't wait. Create." We have finally taken the to the old cliche, no longer being the idle actor waiting by the phone.
However, along with loftier goals comes loftier effort. As we have worked through a couple of projects we have started to incorporate more and more people and quickly learned that in order to meet our own expectations, this isn't something that we can continue to do on our own.
Where Your Money Will Go
We've set our goal for $1,000. Here's what it will go towards:
Nearly our entire budget is going towards our cinematographer and audio technician. The two most important aspects of making a film worthy of viewing.
We are lucky enough to know a couple of very gracious owner's of two locations in which we can film. But, that being said we would love to give back to them for each of the days we film there.
There are so many other costs and to be perfectly honest we would love to exceed expectations!
The Point of the Film
Young people working in hospitality are often overlooked by those who come in contact with them every day. Nearly all of them striving for another career, but as anyone knows, it's easier to dance with the devil (or any ambigous biblical reference) you know.
While this film is primarily a comedy meant to entertain, there are moments that speak to the self doubt that resides in all of us and the natural human fear of embracing the unknowns of life.
Final Word
We all work in hospitality and we want to produce a quality project, but frankly, with our current budget in-house, it's not where we want it to be. Without any support, we will most likely have to cut out hiring an editor and going with a more budget friendly crew to shoot the film. So we are reaching out for help.
We are young professionals and are no strangers to major film sets (Michael J. Fox Show, Blue Bloods, The Americans). We know how to run sets ourselves, but we lack the trade skills of cinematography and audio capture in comparison with those who pursue that as a career. Their help is paramount and this cannot be stressed enough!
