"I have no idea where this will lead us. But I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange."

David Lynch

Hi everyone, my name is Cameron Cloutier and I am a filmmaker from the Monterey Peninsula in California.

Over the last few years, you may have heard about me working on a true crime film called, "Bird with a Broken Wing", read my reviews/interviews online, etc. or seen my recent exclusive interview with Jennifer Lynch (included with this campiagn).

In fact, it was while I was researching for that interview that my memories of growing up with Twin Peaks just exploded back into my mind.

Then, a few weeks back, I had the good fortune of visiting Snoqualmie/North Bend, Washington for a couple of days and it was practically a religious experience.

It was there that I caught this wild notion of a bug.

The next film I want to make is based in the world of Twin Peaks, and it's one that I want to give to David Lynch for his 68th birthday in January.

He has given us all so much, over the last forty years, that I think it's time that we gave something back.

I need your help though. I can't do this alone.

Please contribute whatever you can, and then Email/FB/Twitter/etc. this campaign to anyone you think would support this.

Otherwise, this project will not happen.

Below, I have listed a set of questions that I have already received about this film. I hope my answers will relieve any stress you may initally have...

Cooper, Annie and Earle

Questions in a World of Blue

Why does this short film have such an obvious subtitle? Didn't want to use, "Without chemicals, he points", huh?

Actually, the film has its title for a reason. It's not simply trying to be a retread of "Fire Walk With Me" or anything.

To me, it is a reflection of who Cooper is at this moment in time.

Annie will soon make this observation herself.

Will this film be considered "Canon" or Official in the Twin Peaks universe?

Only if you want it to be.

I will be tying in some of the themes and moods from the show, but I am not in a position to say this is what officially happened next.

Is this a fan film?

In a sense, yes--but it is much more than that too. It's a birthday present. :)

Are you going to be filming in the Snoqualmie/North Bend area of Washington?

Wouldn't that be something? I think it'll depend on what this campaign raises, but we'll have to see.

I think, at the very least, it would be wonderful to get some establishing shots.

Where and when will this short film be available?

First and foremost, the film is being produced as a birthday present to David Lynch. Also, since I do not own the copyright, it would be illegal to mass produce and sell this short or take it to festivals.

However, as a fan film, I will be able to share it online with all of you, free of charge.

My plan is to premiere it one week after David Lynch's birthday, which would be January 27, 2014.

Are you making any money doing this film?

Nope. I'm doing this because I want to.

Is it true that a network or studio could just reboot Twin Peaks, using a new, hip, young cast to bridge new and old viewers?

Have you been paying attention to the networks and the studios over the last decade? Nostalgia is in, rebooting is in.

Heck, tv shows have been pulling from Twin Peaks for almost twenty five years now. It's only a matter of time before the show does come back--in a way none of us want. Trust me.

Perhaps making this short film will show the networks that when the inevitable moment comes to reboot the series, there is a richer way to go than simply showing a hot new cast basking under Snoqualmie Falls, while a modern version of the theme plays over the titles.

I remember Twin Peaks as being weird. Is this short you're making going to be weird?

The film I'm making will stay true to the characters, but it will not go out of it's way to just be strange, weird or surreal. Sure, there will be moments, but the last thing I want is for people to think I'm merely copying David Lynch.

It will be its own thing, but completely respectful to everything that's come before.

I have always pictured the climatic battle between The White Lodge and The Black Lodge as a grand "Lord of the Rings" type battle. Will something like this be included in the film?

On this budget? No, sorry.

Also, Twin Peaks is about a lot of things, but Harry S. Truman riding down a mountain on a white horse, as an army follows behind him to save Cooper, is not... wait... that does sound pretty sweet though... nope, not in this film.

Sorry. :(

Are you going to try to wrap up the series or leave it open ended as it is now?

I don't think Twin Peaks is something that will ever truly end--at least, not in my mind. However, there is a way to conclude the story depicted in this short film without alienating the legions of fans.

So, yes, the film does have an ending--but it does not attempt to conclude the series as a whole, nor will it go out of its way to leave the audiences frustrated.

Dust off that trenchcoat, Chris Isaak.

(Hey, I just want to make sure you're still reading.)

Can I contribute more to this campaign than what perks are offered?

Of course! You can contribute as much as you'd like. I just wanted to keep the initial donation perks as inexpensive as possible since this film is not being made for profit or sale.

That being said, I'm hoping to add more perks to this campaign, as interest increases.

The more money this campaign makes, the higher the production quality will be.

Do you think you're David Lynch?

No, but I admire him greatly--for nearly forty years.

Do you think you're Mark Frost?

No, I certainly do not, but I respect him for many, many reasons.

Seriously, Twin Peaks fans... go back and watch the final episode of season one and tell me his writing and directing isn't spot on.

Are you going to use Angelo Badalementi's awesome music?

Would it be Twin Peaks without it?

Of course, I also would like to touch base with him about music that was never used and seeing if we couldn't put some of it in here.

If you had your choice of a dream cast for this short film, who would it include?

That's very simple actually.

Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper

Heather Graham as Annie Blackburn

Kenneth Welsh as Windom Earle

Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer

Laura Dern as Diane (I'm kidding... no, maybe I'm not... it's just a thought.)

Is there any chance these actors could actually be in the film?

Anything is possible when dealing with the world of Twin Peaks. It would be absolutely incredible to have them resume their parts in this film, but it'll really depend on their schedules, salary expectations, interest, etc.

It's not even possible to approach their agents about the film until the money is in place anyway.

My hope is that because this film is being produced as a birthday present to David Lynch, they'll feel more inclined to take part in it. Obviously no guarantees though, which is why I'm not including that many characters in the short.

If I am unable to secure any of these fine actors, the roles will then be opened up for others to consider.

Of course, public pressure can do wonders too...

What do you think of Kyle MacLachlan as an actor?

How can you ask me that? I adore him. I think it's impossible not to.

I will say though, after enjoying and watching him in several shows/movies over the last 30 years, I do miss him as a lead where he wasn't being put down by someone, where he could exhibit not only intelligence but romanticism, and also telepathy on how to navigate through this beautiful, yet harrowing world. A true hero.

I know in my heart he would be incredible in this film.

What about Heather Graham?

I think her role in this film would give her something to play in ways she hasn't been able to for quite some time.

On the surface, the character of Annie Blackburn might have seemed like little more than a light for Cooper to zero his heart towards, but she is much more than that.

Like all the characters in Twin Peaks, she has layers too--especially in this film.

The campaign video (above) will clue you into some of these.

The role I have for Annie Blackburn would be nothing more than a tour de force for any actress to portray.

Having Heather on board would simply be breathtaking.

Cooper and Annie

What if more actors/crew from the series/film/other David Lynch works want to appear/take part in this?

Well, that would completely blow my mind. The more, the merrier is what I say. It is a lot easier for me to add people to this mix than to take away, that's for certain.

I have not included that many characters from the show/film into this short because I didn't want to have scale back my vision. Adding them, on the other hand, would be an absolute pleasure.

Also, anyone else interested in being in the film, or helping behind the scenes, is more than welcome to contact me as well.

Be honest. Is this an attempt to get David Lynch back on board with Twin Peaks to make a new series?

Honestly, no. If you've watched the campaign video, you'll see this project is coming out of my love and respect for what David Lynch and Mark Frost co-created almost twenty five years ago.

Twin Peaks was an important show for me when I was a young teenager. It showed me a world that was rarely spoken about and where intuition was just as important as knowing "facts".

Like Blue Velvet before it, Twin Peaks, followed by Wild at Heart, just blew my mind when I was fourteen years old.

Even though I'm older now, and have read and seen other great works of literature/film, the world of Twin Peaks will always be remembered as my first truly great love.

And I can't think of a better way to say Happy Birthday to David Lynch than to make this film for him and express my love back.

I do hope you'll join me.
