My name is Tyler McCoy, and I am a junior business major and philosophy minor at Calumet College of St. Joseph, a small liberal arts college in Northwest Indiana. I am a very engaged student, athlete, president of the student government, and club officer. I was adopted at age 12 by my grandmother who is unable to offer such steep financial assistance to me, and I am seeking out alternative means to raise the costs that might otherwise inhibit me from my involvement within the institution...3.98 cumulative GPA, captain of the wrestling team, hard working student, with a unique story. Along with the responsibilities I have as a student leader, my credits have averaged over 17.5 per semester, making it very difficult for me to keep up with finances for lack of time. I believe that I will be better suited to "pay it forward," if I can continue onward in my current path towards future success without the need to triage any of my potential achievements for reasons of poverty. In order to pay for three summer classes and rent, plus the added expenditures that go along with those studies, I would be forced to quit some of the positive extracurricular things I am doing. I know in my heart that there are people who would warm to my extraordinary story of triumph through struggle, so this is one way for me to ask for people to help me focus on my part in what can be an even more dynamic tale of success.
