Less then a month ago a .webm of a visual novel staring Ebola-chan started floating around the intertubes. In a heartbeat I decided it was time to make that into a full game.
I found the person who made the original .webm and we, along with many other collaborators, have spent the last month working on a demo to see what we can do.
It's time to go full-length.
What We Need & What You Get
I'll keep working on this until the project's done, but I can guarantee without funding it'll look far, far worse than the demo you can play today.
I've had the help of writers, artists, musicians, programmers, even voice actors, and we couldn't have done it without them. However we all agree we need to get some professionals in if we want this to meet the quality we want.
- The goal is $1,000. When you're not paying contractors $5k an hour to twiddle their thumbs like in the tripple-a gaming industry $1,000 goes a long way.
- This will be able to pay for professional art, a full-length soundtrack, and far, far more. If we exceed the goal the game's only gonna get better.
- Seriously, if you guys can raise half a million dollars to give an upstanding law enforcement officer a well deserved holiday after he spread peace and love to a small town then surly you can scrape together a couple of shekels to spread LOVE and JOY to EVERYONE!
Risks & Challenges
I'll be honest, this isn't the hardest thing in the world to do. We're programming the game in python, I have a couple of rather literate writers at hand, the only reason for this not to be great is sub-par art. That's what this is for.
If we end up reaching our funding goal there's pretty much nothing that can stop us from finishing the game. That said, we will be completely transparent throughout the development process.
As for the elephant in the room, release date, if funding goes to plan we hope to release by the end of 2015. However depending on what the community wants from this game that could be delayed significantly.
