The truth is, if we don’t own this movement, no one will. History has shown that every unimaginable step toward justice and equity was made possible by brave and daring acts of ordinary people gathering, sharing, and eventually ORGANIZING. Institutionalizing an anti-racist curricula in NY Schools of Social Work which prepare professionals to practice competent social work practice depends on ongoing pressure from students and alumni like yourselves. By supporting the Scholarship Fund to Undo Racism you will help today’s students to assume greater ownership of their education and to ensure that social work fully endorses moving beyond treating the symptoms of institutionalized oppression to activating strategies that eliminate the root causes. Support students as they organize to hold the profession accountable to uphold its own ethical standards and social work professional values as noted by the NASW Code of Ethics. Your donations to the Scholarship Fund to Undo Racism will expand the number of social workers committed to Undoing Racism in both the profession and throughout wider society.

The Revolution Will Not Be Funded
SUPPORT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO UNDO RACISM
Social workers and members of all the helping professions serve their communities best when informed by an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens. Without this lens we risk misunderstanding our clients, designing ineffective programs and letting racism stand unchallenged. More urgently, we risk becoming the oppressor. The need to create opportunities for students to gain additional knowledge in the area of race and racism is critical.
The Undoing Racism Internship Project (URIP) works with the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB) to transform social work practice by training students to become active organizers for social justice. The purpose of URIP is to strengthen the anti-racist analysis of social work students, faculty, and staff as well as field instructors and human service agencies. URIP provides a platform for social workers to recognize their role as gatekeepers and serve as catalysts for change.

URIP has established the new SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO UNDO RACISM to enable more students to attend the Undoing Racism Workshop offered by PISAB in New York City. Due to effective URIP organizing on many campuses over the last few years, more students recognize the urgency of having an anti-racist lens and are committed to attend the Undoing Racism Workshop. However, the half-price $175 student rate is still a stretch for many students and stands as a barrier. Our goal is to enable students to attend at $75 per student. And if you can stretch yourself to give $5.00 more than your initial donation, students may even be able to attend for $0.00.
With your support, we can say YES to them! By contributing at least $5 to the new Scholarship Fund to Undo Racism you can help today’s social work students join the more than 5,000 students, practitioners, administrators and educators who have benefitted from Undoing Racism Workshops over the past ten years in the New York metropolitan area alone. Your contribution to the new Scholarship Fund to Undo Racism will help us to mentor, nurture, and support young people who want to join both the movement to undo racism and ranks of social justice organizers.
Donations will go directly to pay for students’ registration fees. Together we will expand and strengthen the movement to Undo Racism. Thank you for contributing to the SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO UNDO RACISM.
Please join us this holiday season in making a generous contribution to the SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO UNDO RACISM that supports social work students who want to attend the Undoing Racism Workshop.
