Until They're Gone is a documentary about landmines, the people who remove them, and hope.

Bill and Jill Morse of the Landmine Relief Fund raise funds for Aki Ra, a former Khmer Rouge child soldier, and his team of deminers. The deminers dig up landmines by hand to rid Cambodia, one of the most heavily mined countries on the planet, of a deadly problem.

The Morses traded in a comfortable retirement in Palm Springs, and moved permanently to Cambodia. We’re making a film about them, and this funding campaign ends on October 28. These next two weeks are critical.

  • It is estimated that every 22 minutes someone in the world is killed or maimed by a landmine or unexploded bomb. Our story focuses on the people making a safer world.
  • Making a film about this worldwide problem raises awareness.
  • 10% of every donation goes to Landmine Relief Fund. It costs $20/day to keep a deminer in the field.
  • Every $200 raised for this film = a deminer working for a day.
  • Since we shot the footage for the trailer in May, several people have been injured and killed by landmines in Cambodia, including a 12-year-old girl taking vegetables to market. There is a ticking clock on this.

  • Christopher Lockett, director, holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute and has shot films, documentaries, and TV shows on five continents. His credits include 400+ episodes of Big Brother on CBS and Naked and Afraid XL on Discovery. The L.A. Times called his last documentary, The Typewriter (In The 21st century) "a fun compact love letter of a documentary." The Washington Post called it "a valuable and persuasive film."

  • Alex Ramsey, producer, is a veteran of multibillion dollar companies and has spent over 18 years working in the manufacturing industry in all facets of development and production. Alex has produced a TV pilot presentation, and immediately committed to producing the film after hearing the story from Lockett at a local L.A. coffee shop.

  • We don't accept landmines harming children in our own backyards. Why would we accept it anywhere else? Mass media can mobilize money, activism, and action—the three things that make a real impact. But people have to know about it first.

  • Gear failure

  • Crew health and safety

  • Political instability

  • Standing out in a fickle market
  • Telling a story few know about in the west

  • Spread the word! To anyone you know who might be interested or in a position to help. Church groups, scout troops, sororities and fraternities, corporate matched giving programs, all are welcome.
