Why we need this course:
Storytelling is my life. I've been trusted by some of the world's most reputable brands to make content as well as train their thought leaders to harness the 'human-ness' of their brand. I've captured stories living rough with homeless communities, right up to presidents and olympians.
But becoming a full time carer for my mother living with dementia ended up being my greatest calling. Not just for making me a student again, but for filling my cup with patience, appreciation and love. And before my mother's memory slipped away, I made it my mission to capture those stories vividly with photos, audio and video recordings. In fact our stories have been shared by media everywhere, and have been seen & heard by well over 80,000,000 people.
Why do I share this? Because I was lucky enough to have the knowledge how to make story capture easy and automatic, and my family has hundreds of hours of recordings which generations ahead will appreciate and learn from.
From growing a wonderful dementia-friendly community on Facebook @OmasApplesauce I received hundreds of messages from people desperate to know where to start with capturing audio stories of their loved ones. Some also wanted to capture their own stories, or their kids. Whatever the reason - having a loved one's voice forever is priceless. Capturing their conversation candidly means their legacy will always be here. That's why I've called this masterclass 'Utterly Unforgettable Audio Interviews'... because that's exactly what you'll have the power to create.
Content will include:
- Audio mindfulness: when should I record audio snippets?
- Recording Sound on your phone
- Reducing audio distractions
- Recording an easy audio interview
- Great questions = Great recordings!
- Podcasting basics
- Accessory microphones for phones
- Apps & tools to clean up your recordings
- Audio tattoos / Audio visualisations
- Where can I save & share my recordings?
- + more!
What We Need & What You Get
I'm needing at least 100 pre-enrolments to join me in this mission to make this course possible. 100 leaders that stand for capturing their family stories before they dissapear forever. 100 enablers that make this course possible not just for themselves, but for possibly thousands more to benefit from in future times.
100 pre-enrolments will fund the pilot study group I'll need in October to make this new course possible. Together we'll dissolve the boundaries to making the capture of audio interviews with your loved ones fun, easy and DONE!
Funds will be used for:
- Recording of up to 4 hours of interactive videos
- Creation of downloadable PDF resources
- Design of explainer slide deck
- Creation of a student group chat
- Facilitation of a weekly Q&A group
Should we be so lucky to attract more than 100 pre-enrolments, the additional funds will allow me to grow my team, adding additional classes and resources to scale.
The Impact
By being one of our first to pre-enrol, you'll join a community of budding audio storytellers enabling a rich resource to be created for thousands more families across the globe.
With our feature documentary 'Everybody's Oma' also partially funded on Indiegogo, we are well in post-production completion and know how vital a community of like-minds is to seeing a project like this succeed. Together we rise and make greatness truly possible.
Risks & Challenges
Should we not reach our funding milestone, we'll re-group our efforts and double down to still make the 'Uttery Unforgettable Audio Interviews' course a reality. It may take on a simpler form without full funding, but we'll remain committed to making it come rain, hail or shine. Your pledge will still make the training available to you, it will just take on a more intimate, smaller scale production.
Other Ways You Can Help
Naturally not everyone is in a position to pledge and pre-enrol, that's completely understandable. Other ways you can help this campaign shine is simple by using Indiegogo's share tools to help spread awareness amongst your social community too. Every voice helps us be heard, and for that we are deeply appreciative!
