Short Summary
I have been a professional musician for nearly forty years, starting with Bauhaus and then Love and Rockets as well as a stint with The Jazz Butcher. I have been playing solo gigs since 1983. For the past few years I’ve been playing an ongoing series of ‘living room shows’. These intimate gatherings have taken me into peoples’ homes all over the world. The experience is always warm and soul satisfying and I love that it cuts out the middle man so that I can deal directly with the fans /music lovers. While out on the road I have been writing new songs inspired by these troubadour adventures. I am now bringing these new works together as a double vinyl album. I have already made a bunch of recordings. These sessions having been funded by my Patreon site which has proved to be an invaluable interface with the fans and their support has been truly appreciated. It’s about half way there and I now need to complete the project and then take it on the road. I want to tour internationally in support of the new album in the Spring / Summer of 2017. In these days of DIY independence, 'crowd sourcing' platforms (such as here at Indiegogo ) are now the all important factor that enables independent artists such as myself to function and thrive. It is a reciprocal system that also creates a familial bond which is something that lies at the heart of the acoustic 'living room' shows.
The remainder of the recordings will be done at a great little musician run studio in Los Angeles. I have several wonderful musicians in mind to play on the tracks. Once the record is recorded and mastered it will be manufactured as a limited edition of 500 double vinyl albums. (I love that vinyl has made such a come back! Nothing can beat that sound in my book and there is nothing like holding a beautiful gatefold sleeve in your hands and pouring over the art work as you listen to the music inside. I have a great designer who I will be working with on this.) I am confident that the record will be made but the biggest challenge will be taking it on the road, especially as I want to tour outside of my home in the USA. International travel is not cheap. If I do not hit my goal of $8000 then I will simply have to scale it all back and limit touring to the USA but hopefully I will be able to be a vagabond abroad as well as here! 'Hope to see you somewhere out there!
