If you put the films of Mel Brooks, Ed Wood, and the humour of South Park into a blender you’d get VAMPIRE ZOMBIES… FROM SPACE! an over-the-top R-rated comedy which satirizes and pays homage to drive-in, creature-feature horror films of the 1950s.

PLOT

From the depths of space, Dracula has devised his most dastardly plan yet; turning the residents of a small American town into his personal army of vampire zombies! A motley crew consisting of a grizzled detective, hot-shot rookie cop, chain-smoking greaser, and a determined young woman band together to save the world from — (see title). Packed with gruesome practical effects, b-movie miniatures, and gut-busting laughs, Vampire Zombies… from Space! is a bloody comedy that has its foundation in horror films of the 1950s.

When we started writing this project over three years ago we were driven by a shared love of old school horror and zany, over-the-top comedy. Blending these genres helped us create a unique and hilarious script which attracted the attention of award-winning writer-director Mike Stasko. Mike’s films have played in film festivals across the world and have featured the likes of Fred Willard, Ray Wise, Colin Mochrie and Kevin Mcdonald and are available on Amazon Prime and Crave. 

The roots of this film however, go much deeper. The initial draft was written over ten years ago while we were pimply-faced high schoolers who spent all their time dreaming of making movies. Now we’re pimply-faced adults who spend all their time dreaming of making movies! We found a copy of our old script back in 2018 and rewrote it with Mike to make it bigger and better than ever. We’re now ready and excited to bring this crazy, fun, gore-fest to the world!

Initial funding for this film has already been secured by private investors, funds from this Kickstarter will allow us to take all the gore, laughs, and gags even further making it the best possible version it can be! This is your chance to get in at the ground level, receive exclusive one of a kind perks, and help bring this wild, fun film to life!

We want the zany comedy of Vampire Zombies… From Space! to be set against a very realistic backdrop. The film will look, sound, and feel like it was shot in 1957. Transforming our present day locations into the 1950s is a massive task. On top of this we’ll need period cars, props, and costuming for hundreds of extras.

The movie is filled with blood and guts. We have several ambitious, fun scenes involving severed heads, open body cavities, throat-rips, and exploding bodies. Practical effects will be utilized over digital as much as possible and therefore funds will go to a team of skilled artists and special effects persons who can really make the limbs fly! And considering we have a scene where our lead fights off a pair of zombified legs, we need all the help we can get! Additionally we intend to create miniatures and matte paintings to really bring the era to life!

We're thrilled to announce we'll be working with renowned special & practical effects house The Butcher Shop (The Umbrella Academy).  Funds raised on Indiegogo will allow us to use more practical effects, and go further and bloodier with all of our gags.

We also have international CGI & post-production house Suede Productions on board to handle several CGI components, including military vehicles, duplicating zombies, and bad-ass looking UFO blasts.

Funds will also go to hire an exceptional artist to create the artwork for the movie poster. It will have that classic, illustrated 50s style that you rarely see anymore. Costs will also go to the rewards, such as printing costs for posters and stickers, t-shirts, blu-rays etc.

VAMPIRE ZOMBIES… FROM SPACE! is a very ambitious project to say the least. The good news is that we're already mostly funded, so that eliminates a degree of worry right away. It is currently the funding that is holding us back and finding money for a movie is hard, especially for a crazy project like this.
