Our story

From a small apartment in NYC to 6 locations around the world.

The Autonomous story began in September 2015 in New York City, when we shipped the first SmartDesk to our first Indiegogo customer. Since then, we have been dedicated to helping people work smarter. The SmartDesk now helps over 300,000 customers across the globe to be healthier, happier and more productive at work. We’ve received incredible enthusiasm and support from the entrepreneurs, innovators, and visionaries that make up the Autonomous community.

Now we’ve decided to conquer the fitness industry. Why? While we work long hours in a fast-paced start-up environment, the extra commute to and from the gym can cause our workout to fall by the wayside. This doesn’t sit well with us - especially when we spend our days researching the importance of staying active. If you want to boost your brain function, energy, and mood, frequent exercise is a must. We understand that stimulating connections between different areas of the brain and getting oxygen pumping through exercise, is something that lasts long after you’ve finished your workout. We want all our customers to experience next level energy, productivity, and happiness.

From component sourcing to quality control, we’ve brought the experts behind the SmartDesk and ErgoChair on board - so we can better help people to train smarter and move faster.

Risks and challenges

This is our sixth time launching a crowdfunding campaign - including the original SmartDesk and ErgoChair.  Our track record shows we have the expertise and experience in place to deliver things on time.

Our years of experience in manufacturing, product sourcing, logistics, and quality control mean we have the know how to minimize the risks associated with launching new products.

1. Inventory: We’ve already produced 100 Titan Black units. Throughout our Indiegogo campaign, we’ll closely monitor the number of orders and adjust our production accordingly.
2. Supply chain: From years of working with different factories and manufacturers, we only partner with the most reliable ones. Unexpected shortages and delays can occur, in which case we’ll be sure to keep you informed and work quickly to remedy the problem.

2. What are the product dimensions?

3. How much space does Velo take up? I live in a really small apartment so don’t know if I have enough room.

Coming in at a compact 4.1’x 1.7’, Velo easily fits into almost any room. For home use, we recommend placing a sports mat underneath. This will help protect your floor and reduce the chance of any noise reaching your neighbors.

4. How many people does it take to assemble Velo? Which tools do I need?

We include all the assembly tools you’ll need with every package. You can easily finish setting up your new bike by yourself in under half an hour.

5. How adjustable is the bike?

Velo is designed to adapt to different body types. The handlebars, seat, and resistance are all easily adjustable for a ride that’s perfect for you.

6. What is the range of the seat and handlebars?

Seat vertical range: 31" to 40.5"
Seat horizontal range: 2”
Handlebars vertical range: 36.5" to 40.5"

7. Can I change the resistance of the bike?

Of course! Use the knob to adjust the resistance of the bike. This also allows you to lock the bike for safety.

8. How many colors does Velo come in?

Velo comes in two dynamic colors: Titan Black and Lightning Yellow.

9. Where do we ship from?

Every Velo stationary bike will be shipped from our warehouses in Yonkers (NY) and Mentone (CA). They’re the pros who ship thousands of SmartDesks and ErgoChairs every day.
