We're normal people...who are tired of having to choose between super expensive and poor quality when it comes to action cameras. And we think you are too.
This ain’t our first rodeo folks. We’ve been at this action camera thing for a couple years so we know what we’re up against. Some call it luck that we’ve been able to make an affordable camera with such high quality, but we’ll call it long hours, elbow grease and ingenuity.
So, just how does the Gen3 ViDi action camera stack up against the competition? Well, most cameras out there in our class cost 2 or 3 times as much. I mean, how else are they going to pay for their corporate heads, their global retreats, or their marketing? You know the answer: it's built into the cost of their products. We decided to take our money (what little we have) and put every last cent into the guts of the camera. Well...we DID save a little for the cool design too.
We want to take the People's Action Camera to as many people as would like it--but going into major retail distribution is expensive. That's why the big brands can do it, but the small brands can't. So, here we are on Indiegogo--where all that goes out the window. We need your support to take the ViDi LCD camera to markets around the world. Since this is the first time the Gen3 ViDi is available to the public, we’re skipping the middle man and bringing it to you for way less than retail.

After struggling to find a quality action camera for himself and his kids to use that was also affordable, Spencer decided to see what it would take to develop a camera that brought as much quality as it did value. So, ViDi was born out of the search to create an action camera for the people. It was a long road, and many obstacles had to be overcome, but it's finally finished and ready for its debut... and it's happening right here on Indiegogo.
We like to keep things simple so we built the battery in the camera itself. You can use a portable USB battery pack like the ones for your phone to charge it on the go.
Assuming the typical user will use the camera 3-4 times each weekend, the estimated battery life is 3-5 years. If being used more often, then the life will be reduced accordingly.The 1 year mentioned earlier was if the camera was being used every day for an entire year. The battery is a 700maH Lithium Ion (Li-ion) battery, the same type of battery Apple uses in their iPhones, just a smaller version.
GoPro mounts use their own proprietary system. We do have a connection that makes our camera compatible. We are looking into this more. Please stay tuned.
