Our company, Vinegar Syndrome, possesses one of the largest exploitation film archives in the world, from which we’ve begun one of the most important and technically advanced digital preservation efforts in the history of independent film. Currently to fund our initiative, we rely mainly on home video retail sales. With your support, we will develop VinegarSyndrome.tv, a subscription-based video-on-demand platform to reach a wider audience and expand our efforts to preserve exploitation, sexploitation, cult, experimental and other underappreciated oddities – all important pieces of cinema history.

Vinegar Syndrome was born in the winter of 2012, the brainchild of digital film preservation specialist Ryan Emerson and theatre programmer / film collector Joe Rubin. In our two years of existence, we have become internationally recognized as one of the leaders in the preservation and distribution of all forms of exploitation from the 60s through the 80s. With a
strict mandate of completing studio-level restorations of grindhouse classics and obscurities,
our work has received much praise from such sources as the New York Times, Village Voice, Dangerous Minds and The Foglenest Files. The Alamo Drafthouse Theater chain recently labeled Vinegar Syndrome as "perhaps the most important home video label in the world for genre film -- the Criterion Collection of exploitation/horror/weirdo movies."

As we enter our third year in business, with a catalogue of over 70 releases in distribution, and another 40+ planned for 2015, the time is right to take our ever growing library online and launch VinegarSyndrome.tv, an all 1080p HD streaming service which will feature every single VS title, along with dozens more available on PC, Mac, Roku & Chromecast (iOS and Android apps will be created if we meet our stretch goals).
VinegarSyndrome.tv will be more than just a streaming site, it will be a community of genre film fans and include insightful essays and blogs written by some of the most studied film historians and critics. In addition, members will unlock special discounts and limited edition products in the VinegarSyndrome.com webstore.
Now, before you say "wait, doesn't this sound like that other streaming service those guys have been talking about forever," keep in mind that Skinaflix was going to be focused exclusively on sexploitation and X rated films. VinegarSyndrome.tv will encompass all genres covered by VS. Have you dreamed of seeing THE MUTHERS, VIXENS OF KUNG-FU and A LABOR OF LOVE in full 1080p? On VinegarSyndrome.tv, you will, along with scores of other titles, including some which may never make it to DVD and Blu-ray!
We have our development team picked out and ready to go! If funded, VinegarSyndrome.tv will launch in May 2015 with a collection of over 200 titles ready for your viewing pleasure, with an additional 6-10 titles added on a monthly basis.

You might be asking yourself "why do they need my money to help launch this? It can't be that expensive!" Well, unfortunately, it is. To do this right (and what's the point if it's not done right?), we need just shy of six figures. That's just shy of 100k aka 100 grand, aka $100,000.00 USD. In short, a lot of zeros that we don't have laying around the office. But we aren't asking you to pay for everything. We are ready to front a good chunk of the cost. We just need a hand with the rest.
With all this said, we're determined to pull this off regardless of how much we raise, but the more contributions we get the faster it'll happen and the better it'll be. Q: Does this mean you'll be releasing fewer DVDs and Blu-rays?
A: NOT AT ALL! We were founded on the goal of doing high quality home video releases. We love physical mediums; hell, we have thousands of 35mm and 16mm films in our archive! We are 100% determined to keep our home video releases our #1 priority.
Q: What devices will I be able to watch this on?
A: Out of the gate, VinegarSyndrome.tv will be accessible on PC, Mac, Roku & Chromecast. Should we meet our stretch goals, iOS and Android apps will be created. Should we exceed our stretch goals, the sky is the limit!
Q: Can you tell me what the secret Blu-ray is?
A: No. But it'll be worth the wait. It'll make RUNAWAY NIGHTMARE seem normal.
Q: Will you really do this even if you don't get funded?
A: Yes, but it'll take a lot longer. The funding is to get it going soon and in the best possible quality we can get. We want to make it happen and it will no matter what.
Q: I forgot to add extra for international shipping, what should I do?
A: Uh, oh...no need to panic, but you should contact us.
Q: I'm outside of North America, will there be any territorial restrictions or geo blocking?
A: 99% of our titles will have worldwide availability.
Q: I'm considering one of the expensive levels, what's your projected release schedule for 2015 and 2016?
A: 2015 = 8 blu-rays & 36 DVDs & 2016 = 10 blu-rays & 36 DVDs
Q: How do I choose the future or current titles I want?
A: When the campaign ends, we will create a database for tracking release "credits" and requests. We will also setup a dedicated VS email account to handle all release requests and communication. Buyers of the $100 perk and above will receive an email with further instructions after the campaign ends.
Q: Can I buy the $1,000 level and receive 75 copies of the limited SexWorld blu?
A: Nice, trying to beat the system huh? We have a maximum limit of 2 copies per release for all perk levels.
Q: Can you give me some more information on the $2,500 'Credit' perk?
A: Sure, this is our top-of-the-mountain perk! The lifetime membership and 100 releases are pretty self-explanatory... As for the 'Restoration Funded by [insert name here]' credit, we'll issue you a top-secret list of upcoming releases and you'll have the opportunity to select your release on a first-in, first-served basis (meaning earliest backers get priority). You'll also get ten copies of the release to give out to friends and family! Your credit will be shown directly after the VS logo upon disc insertion so everyone will have no choice but to see your name! Note: company or organizational names will not be accepted.
