[IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Fusion Writer was an overoptimistic idea that failed to garner enough support or interest. Unfortunately, not many people supported the project for it to take off. Even though I received much interest, there was also much skepticism. For that reason, I am cancelling the funding for the project. However, due to IndieGoGo's rules, once a certain sum has been collected, the project cannot be cancelled or deleted until the end date. Therefore, I will be refunding the $40 collected to my backers as soon as possible. I will relaunch the project once more once I have raised up enough personal funds to build a working prototype. As an aspiring writer and gadget lover, I have always noticed the lack of any one specific portable writing tool made only for writers and writing. Sure there was the Alphasmart, which catered to writers with its full keyboard, but it was limited then and is now.
Laptops have a great deal of functionality, but when it comes down to it they are also limited by battery life, portability and durability.
In today's day and age it seems that the number of laptops and tablets keeps increasing exponentially - so does the number of possible distractions when using them.
The Fusion Writer will have the following great features:

The Fusion Writer is now just a concept, but with help it can become a real product that will work for and not against writers.
Currently, this project is intended to raise money to build and test a fully-functional prototype. With your help the prototype will allow us to build a complete working final product and launch it into production. All orders for the final product will be accepted online and will be hand-assembled.

- To choose appropriate internal components - Programming the device to work flawlessly - Develop several working prototypes - Test the device for waterproofing, drop resistance and dust- proofing (several prototypes will be destroyed during the testing process) - Developing a custom word processing application for Android OS - Testing for overall reliability (quality assurance testing) - Marketing the device and preparing post-production - Launching the device for purchase online - Packaging with recyclable materials
The fully working prototype may take OVER A YEAR to develop. Choosing the correct parts for assembly and experimenting with materials (3D printing) will allow the development process to minimize costs and determine the optimum parts. Testing the prototype, revising and assembling from scratch will take time and effort.
The schedule to develop the prototype into a fully-fledged product will be roughly the following:
