Whiskey on Beer
A documentary film about LOAD, Miami’s most notorious punk
band.
Who
was LOAD?
A
fixture in the south Florida punk scene, LOAD’s popularity surged in the mid
90’s mirroring a national trend toward rock alternative acts like Green Day and
Smashing Pumpkins. LOAD ambitiously toured the southeastern U.S. eventually landing
them on the radar of major labels, hungry for the next big thing. Unfortunately
the unpredictability and recklessness that would make LOAD such a compelling
act would also prove to be their downfall As their explosive rise to the top would
come to be overshadowed by the tragic trajectory that followed.
In
2012 lead singer Robert Johnston, known to fans as Bobby LOAD died due to
complications from alcoholism. In the wake of Johnston’s passing remaining LOAD
members Jeff Tucci, Fausto Figueredo and Tony Qualls came together again for
the first time in over a decade to collaborate on a tribute record of LOAD
re-releases. In November of 2014 Jeff Tucci was found dead of an apparent
overdose. He died one month before the album could be released.
Your Support
The project has so far received a lot of encouragement from both the South
Florida music community as well as the New England film community. We have managed to fund the majority of the
production out of our own pockets, but to fully realize our vision; we need to
raise an additional $10,000. With your support, we’re confident we’ll be able
to reach this goal.
Where does the money go?
Every cent you contribute will go toward production of the actual film. This
includes logistics for remaining shoots, as well as post production fees, color
correction, mixing, animations and effects all the way up to film festival
entrance fees. Your involvement will bridge the financing gap and give this
story the attention it deserves.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand not everyone is in a position to donate to the campaign. you can still contribute by helping us spread the word about this very important project.
