The Whiteout solution consists of Whiteout Mail, a PGP-enabled email client, and Whiteout Mailbox, a secure and encrypted email service.
Whiteout Mail: An open-source client based on PGP. Installable as packaged app on desktop (Chrome or Firefox) and mobile (Android, iOS). Or running directly in your browser.The first email client that offers end-to-end encryption and is available everywhere. Think of Thunderbird + Enigmail + GPG all integrated and running on all your devices. It is available today as a Chrome packaged app here or as a webmail that runs in your browser here. It is also available for Android here and for iOS here.

Whiteout Mailbox.
Whiteout Mailbox is a new privacy-by-design email service where everything that you store in the cloud is encrypted. Safe from hackers, criminals, spies, and even safe from us. Messages that you send to Whiteout users and other PGP clients are encrypted end-to-end with your private key on your client. Messages that you send and receive in clear text are encrypted on the server with your public key so only you can read them.

The good news is that email encryption is well understood. The PGP standard for email encryption has been around for more than 20 years. Even the NSA acknowledges that they cannot break it. But: It can be really hard to use PGP and you cannot get it to work on all your devices. It’s time to bring that technology into the 21st century.

- Working with the open source community on developing an industry standard for synchronizing private and public keys between devices.

Who We Are
Whiteout Networks was founded in 2013 in Munich. Our mission is to provide secure email that is easy to use and runs everywhere. Our products are based on open standards. We believe in contributing to existing open source projects that we build upon in our software. All our source code is published (here). Because you can only trust what you (or your trusted third parties) can inspect. As part of our work on Whiteout Mail we also work on email.js (here), which is an open source toolbox for writing email applications in JavaScript.

FAQ
My friends already use PGP. Can I email with them? Yes you can. Our automatic key lookup will find their key if it is available from a number of well-known key servers. Otherwise you can import their keys yourself.
I need more technical detail on the Whiteout solution. Please check out our

My friends do not have PGP and do not have Whiteout Mailbox. Do they need to get Whiteout Mailbox as well? They can choose to get Whiteout Mailbox as well for a fully protected mailbox or they can PGP-enable their existing Mailbox by using the free Whiteout client.
