OVERVIEW
Wind and Bone is the culmination of several years of collaborative story telling between Kevin Sylvain ![]()
and Michael Tuthill
.
The film centers on the story of Sierra, a young woman with a dark past, and a group of newfound friends out on a weekend getaway to hike the Appalachian Trail. Things turn bad when their guide goes missing and the group comes face to face with the malevolent spirit of Native American folklore -- the Wendigo.
Who are we?
When We Go Productions is helmed by Michael Tuthill and Kevin Sylvain. Both have worked together for years and paved the way for this film through their respective productions over the last decade. Their previous works, under "Lucid Images" and "Sylvain Films" -- the 2019 (The Inside) and 2020 (Eidolon) as well as the 2012 (Damned), have screened internationally and garnered a number of awards and accolades. After the success of the Inside and Kevin's original short film (Wendigo) was realized into a feature length script, the two quickly jumped to start finding ways to produce their first co-written/directed feature film.
Included in the collaboration on Wind and Bone are Antonio Moses of Ashanti Films and Jordan Miller of Gypsy Cab Studios.
Antonio Moses is a prolific DP and Documentary Director out of Atlanta that has worked on such films as (Jack This), (Bondage) and (212 Degrees). ![]()
Jordan Miller who worked as the sound engineer and boom operator on Wind and Bone is an award-winning filmmaker, musician and podcaster from Maryland. His own horror feature film premiere (The Only Ones) is slated to arrive in 2023.

What We Need
Bottom line -- the movie is 90% complete...with small pickups left to shoot, we are solely in need finishing funds to help get us through post-production and ready for a Nov 2023 limited theatrical release**(planned) and subsequent film-festival run.
![]()
- Funds will primarily go to resolving the music, sound and scoring of the film by a professional artist -- Brandon Maahs. Brandon is a super talented musician that became attached to the project early and has been eagerly awaiting the chance to dive into this film.
- Additional funding can go towards helping resolve the deferred payments for our hard-working cast and crew!
PERKS
Lastly, any additional funds beyond our goal goes straight to the promotion of the film in print advertising, web and media and the creation of our excellent perks.
- Our goal is to produce super rare commodities that will coincide with the film -- namely Blu-Rays, T-shirts, and a printed Script. On Michael's previous short film, he managed to raise enough to produce a very limited quantity of physical media that was provided to backers of that project. If you own one of these, count yourself lucky, since the special features exist no where else, other than on that medium!
- We plan to release a separate and very special limited edition digital OST for the film once complete. This will be made available first to our backers and then lastly to the public down the line.
- Also, we'll do a printing the amazing conceptual artwork provided by Jeremy McHugh -- together with a spiral bound shooting script, so you can see the side-by-side comparisons to the originals with the final images we shot.

- These artworks were the initial keyframe designs that helped green-light the film and got us where we are today. We'd like to do a very...very...limited run of these, so if you get one, you will be very lucky!
- And lastly, if you're a super-duper fan that wants to get onboard with us this Fall and meet the cast, crew, and producers behind the scenes at the exclusive Premier and After Party, then you're in lucky. A few tickets to this screening to be held in Frederick, MD will be available to those that want to get into the thick of it with us! We'll save you a seat.

The Impact
Due to the years of networking, and collaboration on projects far and wide, as far back as 2012, Michael and Kevin have strived to pave the way to a specific brand of horror and indie-filmmaking. One that focuses on the fun body-horror and make-up but is also very character driven and atmospheric in its execution.

For us, this is a dream come true -- a chance to throw so many iconic pieces of horror/thriller cinema together in this love-letter to the genre, whereupon we can also present a different take on the Wendigo mythology, apart from the rampaging creature it is often portrayed as, was the goal for this film from the get go. We wanted to make an art-house horror with some bite.
Why the Wendigo?
Wendigo mythology on its face is absolutely terrifying. The woods in general are often spooky and unsettling, if you combine that with the thought that an ancient and malevolent spirit is out there to drive people mad and make them do awful things...well, you've got a good plot for a movie.
With this script, I wanted to combine the best of the "Out in the Woods" genre, with some major classics that feature a break-down in group dynamic and have a strong female lead. Writing strong heroin's has always been a hallmark of both Michael's and Kevin's scripts.
4 years ago, Michael and Kevin shared a beer on his tiny porch and spit-balled the major plot points and characters that would eventually become this film. Seeing it all come to life is beyond surreal.
Along with his wife, Amy, who has also become a filmmaking aficionado in her own right, the pair have continued on this path to become a power couple in the indie-filmmaking world. This having been their third project together. They hope to continue the trend!
