In this book you will learn how to build a small wind turbine and use it to make your own electricity. It will be available in English & German language.
This is a collaborative project between me and Hugh Piggott.
As an enthusiast for renewable energy and do-it-yourself solutions I teach practical workshops with my organization PureSelfMade, where people learn how to build small wind turbines and other renewable energy equipment.
From simple materials and with litte skills needed. These turbines can be used to generate electricity, for example in off grid systems and for rural electrification.

For my projects I choose the reliable Piggott Wind Turbine Design, developed by my friend Hugh Piggott in the windy north of Scotland. This design is efficient, robust and cost effective for locally built wind turbines. Over the years this design has advanced in many ways, for example, the new Ferrite generator concepts where developed, based on the original Piggott design.
After building about 30 Wind Turbines in my workshops and collecting a lot of Ideas, it is now time to turn them into a new publication and share the knowledge.

What you get:
This book will contain the latest plans for building the Ferrite Generator Wind Turbines, also called „the F-Series“ originally engineered by Hugh Piggott, wich covers designs from 600W to about 3kW rated power.
The book is intended to give you all the essential information you need to get straight into wind turbine building and create an independent off grid system, using a simple and practical approach and open source solutions wherever possible.
The book will include:
- 3 Wind Turbine sizes: 2F, 3F, 4F - from 600W - 3kW
- Detailed step-by-step instruction for the whole building process
- Plans for building your tower to carry the wind turbine
- A system design section on how to combine your turbine with solar panels and battery storage to make the best use of your homemade electricity.
- General information about small wind turbine design, use and maintenance.

How to support us
For your appreciated support you will get your copy of the book once it has been finished and printed. You can also choose from other perks, for example your place in a Wind Turbine hands-on building workshop!
Insights
The book will be self-published by PureSelfMade. In this campaign we want to raise the money for completing the book and printing the first round of copies.
The concept for the book is finished. Currently the book is being written and illustrated - which is still a lot of work for a proper technical do-it-yourself manual.
The collected funds will only go into this specific project and pay for layout, design, printing, shipping copies to the supporters and other expenses associated with the making and distribution of the book. The margin per copy that is left after all expenses have been paid will go to the authors (Jonathan Schreiber & Hugh Piggott) in return of the countless hours they dedicated to the project.
Project Timeline
Summer 2020: Writing started
Dec. 2020: Crowdfunding & pre-sale start
Late summer 2021: Expected printing & shipping.
Although we are giving our best to finish this project on time (and our schedule seems realistic), the release date is an estimate and can not be guaranteed Anyway, we will keep you posted about the progress!
Please note that the final cover design of the book may vary, as it has not been fully developed yet.
Workshop & Windturbine Perks
(Only in Austria or Germany)
If you choose one of these, Wow! Thank you for your support, that means a lot to us!
We will contact you to arrange your participation in one of our hands on wind turbine workshops.
These courses take place regularly in Austria and Germany. You can check the next Workshop dates on PureSelfMade.com. You can choose to participate in a Workshop prior to the book release. The Workshop Place Perk covers the course fee of the practical hands-on workshop. The cost for on-site accommodation and meals during the workshop is not included and will be managed on demand as it may vary with the participant's personal preferences.
If you choose to take the Workshop & Wind Turbine perk, you can take the turbine built in the workshop with you afterwards. This will be a 2F Piggott Turbine built from the book's design. It brings up to 600W rated output in around 12m/s windspeed. Suitable for off-grid or grid connected systems. Bear in mind that the turbine is built in a course situation and therefore no warranties or refund can be given.
