About the project
A friend of mine is currently living in Nicaragua for a three-years-long volunteer project, her work concerns microcredit for women's development. So I decided to go there for a month (maybe February, 2012) and doing a reportage about women and theirs projects.
The goal of my project is to print a book and to organize an exhibition, maybe in collaboration with the NGO for a fund raising.
Important: this indiegogo's funding it's about my project (travel, book, exhibition) and isn't related to any NGO.
Updates
September 6th, 2011
Today I met with the swiss NGO "InterAgire" (that coordinates the volunteers, as my friends, in Nicaragua and other countries) to discuss the cooperation between us and they accepted to help me logistically and maybe (to be confirmed next year) financially. In change I'll give them some photos to be used in their websites, brochures, etc and we'll organize a fund raising for the NGO during the exhibition.
They will also ask cooperation to other NGOs that operate in other parts of Nicaragua.
Some days ago I also wrote an email to the director of the communication of the international NGO that manage the microcredit to ask they support / collaboration too.
About me
My name is Marco, I'm 30 years old, from Lugano (south of Switzerland).
I'm working as web designer, but I plan to switch to photojournalism (this project will help me to have a good portfolio too).

The Impact
With the book and the photo exhibition I want to show how much the microcredit helps people to change their lives and the importance of empowering women.
How I'll use your money
Mainly the money I need is to buy flight tickets to Nicaragua (1500/2000$), cover the expenses there like a bed where to sleep, food, transportation, ... (I think that will be the cheapest part of the project), create and print the book (maybe with Blurb or maybe with other self publisher), print the photos for the exhibition and cover the exhibition's cost (place, invitations, vernissage, ...).
If I don't reach the amount I'll go there anyway using my savings, but I'll need to find some other sponsors (and isn't so easy...) to print the book and organizing the exhibition.
If fortunately I reach (or even exceed) the goal and I still have money after covering all costs, I'll use this amount for similar project (maybe in other Latin America's countries) and/or to show the exhibition somewhere else (maybe in Nicaragua too).
If all costs are covered I could sell the book underpriced (so it's easier to distribue more books) and give the money collected to an NGO.
How to follow the project
I'll create a website / blog where I'll write everything about the project, post some photos (not the best one, that I'll use for the book/exhibition), etc.
