About the Film

"Wounded" is the tale of five brothers who reunite at the funeral of their Uncle Joe, and during their reunion they reflect on their rough childhood.

This film brings to light the dark issues that each brother faced during their youth, and the affects it has on them as young adults. These men face issues such as molestation, depression, anger, guilt, sexuality, and the list goes on and on. I wanted to make “Wounded” because it’s a story that needs to be told. We live in a society of men, women, boys, and girls who are hurting because of the pain of molestation. I believe in this film because it’s an awareness film about the real life issues that people don’t like to talk about. If no one talks about it, and bring this evil to the light it will keep happening. I want to show a film that tackles those issues of abuse/molestation and show the negative effects of not speaking out about this sick issue. Statistics say that 1 and 6 men have been molested before the age of 18, and there are more than 3 million children who have fallen victim. I understand that people want to go to the movies to laugh and escape the reality of their pain. But this movie will give individuals who may have been molested, or who know of someone who has been molested a film that tackles those real life issues. This film will help spread the message of the importance of speaking out. This story needs to be told.

About the Director

Alan Brooks is a 2011 graduate of Claflin University where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Mass Communications. It was after his completion of his senior project entitled "Struggles", that he knew that film was what he wanted to pursue for the rest of his life. After completion of his senior project he entered his film into the Claflin University Great Work By Blacks Student Competition, where he was honored to have placed 2nd. After graduation Alan wanted to further his knowledge in film and television so he applied to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where he would go on to obtain a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Degree. Alan has had the opportunity to hone essentials skills while at the Savannah College of Art and Design and also picked up on some acting skills. He said in an interview, "I feel that a director should know how it feels to be on the other side of the camera." He went on to say, "I want to do it all, from the creative process to the business process of filmmaking." Alan Brooks is on his way to making great unique films in a way without compromising his morals.  Whether it is a film, music video, documentary, or commercial, pleasing God is what Alan M. Brooks aims for in all he does.
