OUR CAMPAIGN
WRENCHED is a short film that has been in development since November 2016, and is now almost ready to shoot.
We are a group of young filmmakers from all over the UK, working within the Film and TV Industry, whilst also trying to make projects of our own in any spare time afforded to us.
We are extremely passionate about this project and believe we can make a visually arresting, entertaining but also socially relevant short film. Up to this point, the project is entirely self-funded. For this reason, this fundraising campaign is vital for us as, without your help, all our hard work will be futile and we simply won’t be able to realise our vision and make this film.
Please read further to find out more about where exactly your contribution will be going, the impact that your contributions will have and the challenges we face on the way to achieving our goal.
THE STORY
Our protagonists, Sam and Alex, are a couple on their holidays in Italy. En route to the airport to return home, they suffer a flat tyre and are forced to pull over. Stuck in the middle of nowhere at night, tensions begin to rise as Sam is adamant he can change the tyre despite not having a clue how to do so.
The appearance of a strange figure tests their relationship to its limit, as Sam’s insecurities shine through and his sense of masculinity rapidly dissipates.
WRENCHED is a suspenseful black comedy about male insecurity, the shift in the traditional notion of “manliness” in contemporary society and how quickly things can escalate in young relationships.
ATMOSPHERE
We intend to create a feeling of suspense by drawing on some of the stylistic choices in both horror and dark thriller films, as well momentarily delving into Sam’s thoughts to create a fantasy element. We believe this juxtaposition of horror and fantasy will raise the tension and thrill the audience, whilst simultaneously creating a darkly comic tone.

WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO
LOCATION –. We have found the perfect location for our project. Located a few miles outside of Croydon, on a driveway leading to a farm lined with tall European looking pine trees. This is massive for us and makes up 35% of our entire budget.
LEFT HAND DRIVE CAR – For authenticity we need a left-hand drive car. Unsurprisingly these are not all too common in the UK and therefore they don’t come cheap.
CAMERA HIRE – The industry is busy right now so the rental houses’ shelves are almost empty. This makes it harder for a no-budget short film strike a deal. We are hoping to shoot on an Arri Alexa Mini, please help us to pay for this incredible camera
FESTIVALS – We would love this short to be seen by as many people as possible and to get industry recognition along the way. The best way for that to happen is with Film Festival selection. Unfortunately, application fees are standard.
CATERING – Properly feeding our hardworking crew, most of whom work for free, is essential. In fact, when on set it’s the most essential thing there is. Help us to keep our crew happy as we work through the night.

THANK YOU!
Thank you very much for taking the time to look at our campaign. We are really excited about this project and believe we can make a visually arresting, entertaining but also socially relevant short film. Almost everything in place already, we only need a little extra cash injection to make this project a reality. By contributing even the smallest amount you will be making a huge difference to the team, and the project!
Please feel free to share to anyone and everyone, the more this gets out the better chance we have!
