The Book
Written in the Wind is a book dedicated to stories about identity and finding your personal truth. Names hold power, they are the first thing we are given in the world, and are often the first thing we give to a stranger. But what are we giving away with our name?
Fantasy is the perfect vehicle for this short story anthology. It is through the lens of the fantastical that we can reflect back on our lived reality, and these stories explore that. What do we reflect onto the world with our name? How does a name shape a person? If you name something, do you own it?
Featuring 18 stories, you are sure to find a new favorite in these fresh tales. Our authors are international, and their unique perspectives on fantasy are sure to delight.
Worldsmyths is a woman-led non-profit based out of Canada with the goal to help nurture the talent of rising authors and to provide them with the tools to tackle the world of publishing. These anthologies are our way of giving them a risk-free, supportive taste of the publishing world. By supporting this anthology, you are giving a writer the means to make money with their art, and you are spreading tales from new, unheard voices.

Written in the Wind - Fantastic Tales on the Power of Names
Theme: The Power of Names:
What's in a name? Is it a simple collection of symbols and sounds, or something more? A name is one of the first things we are given in this world, and is the first thing we give to others. But names hold power. They can define and divide, unite and reimagine. A name can truly change your fate.
This collection of Fantasy short stories will explore names and the power they hold over us. Featuring stories from the Worldsmyths community, these tales will show you new worlds and open your mind to the power of names.
We are asking for $500usd to do the following:
$300 for our cover artist
$400 for author pay (15 stories x $25)
Note that doesn't add up to $500? We have less than $500 in our bank account right now, that will pay for the author stories, but we have upcoming bills to pay, so if we want to get a professional cover, we need your help!
At $700 we can afford to do advertising for the book, and put ads on Facebook and Amazon. If we don't reach this tier we will rely on our newsletter and social media pages for advertising.
At $1200 we can do a limited hardcover run of the book, available only through this Indiegogo campaign. Paperbacks will be available through Amazon after publication. If we don't reach this goal, we will only offer an eBook version of this publication to our backers.
At $1500 we can commission a book trailer to advertise the book. If we don't reach this goal, we will create the trailer ourselves and workshop it as a group.
At $1750 we can offer increased pay for the authors, from $25 to $30usd.
The Impact
Worldsmyths Publishing is a non-profit, and we rely on book sales and these Indiegogo campaigns to spread the work of our members. By supporting this campaign you are helping new authors get their first paychecks, giving them confidence to pursue publishing. Your support goes towards the books we publish - no one except for the authors is profiting from these Indiegogo campaigns.
We believe these anthologies are important because they allow new voices to be heard. Our members are from all over the world, and these unique perspectives are so valuable. The stories our members produce are full of imagination and whimsy, drama and self discovery, and it is our pleasure to help their stories be read.
