Who are we?

YETI is a fresh take on youth theatre.

Youth Experimental Theatre Institute (YETI) seeks to provide opportunities for young adults ages 13 to 23 to explore every aspect of the theatre creation process, to take ownership of their part in self-expression, and to shape the theatre they create in the Greater Seattle area. YETI has been active in putting youth into leadership positions to create their own theatre on their own terms since 2011.

Why Bat Boy?

Bat Boy: The Musical provides our cast and designers the opportunity to reimagine a big show for a small space. It's a wonderfully meaty show that will allow everyone involved to dive deep into its mature concepts--but that doesn't stop it from being a lot of fun.

First of all, thank you.

With your help, we've raised almost $2,000 over the last year. That's incredible, and we can't thank you enough. With those funds, we are officially able to make our production of Bat Boy: The Musical happen, since we can now acquire the rights to the show and rent the Ballard Underground for the performances. You can see the finished product July 10th-12th, 2015.

However, that's as far as that money will get us. Everyone involved in this project is here because they want to explore the boundaries of theatre, and because they want to make something of their own. Because of that, we don't charge tuition for any of our projects. What this means, however, is that any money we use to put on a show comes straight from the donations you give. In order to have a consistent rehearsal space in a suitable theater and a budget for our talented team of young designers, we need just a little bit more.

Our goal is to raise $1,000 by the end of April. We could not do what we do without your gracious support.

Here's how it all breaks down:

$20

will provide one actor with costumes

$40

will provide one rehearsal in a rented theatre space

$80

will provide all of the props

$200

will provide the entire set

$650

will provide the full budget for the entire design team

Why fund this last $1,000?

We have already planned a clear-cut rehearsal process that allows our actors to explore and develop their characters, but the design team is at a disadvantage without a budget. We want to be able to give our talented design team the resources they need to bring their vision to life and collaborate to create an immersive theater experience. Your donation will allow them to employ a more tech-heavy set, more elaborate costumes, additional sound equipment, lighting accessories, etc. And of course, a budget will help make the end product of a more professional quality for your greater enjoyment.

Other ways you can help:

We understand that many people aren't able to contribute monetarily, and that's totally fine. We just ask that you spread the word to everyone you know so others can help us get there, and that you come see the final product July 10th-12th, 2015 at the Ballard Underground!
