About this Project:
As an active sportswear designer for big name brands since the early 90’s, our founder has always had an eye for creating functional outdoor fashion.
Living in the northern hemisphere where long and dark define winter months, it was her 10 year-old who made her aware of how un-aware most kids are when it comes to being seen on the street. She soon recognized a gap in the market for reflective gear that would light up dull days while keeping kids visible. So why not make the essentials practical, stylish and incognito?
Thinking long and hard about this brilliant idea, it was an unusual jolt of light that sparked the name:
In the summer of 2016 while working high atop a mountain, Scarlet’s husband Kris was literally zapped by lightning …and the brand was born. (He walked away with a few stitches and a fear of lighting, but no super powers).
ZAPPED offers urban styled essentials that kids need to wear every day. The added bonus: when skies go dark and your kids are running from music lessons to soccer practice, they will still be visible in high traffic zones.
We have taken the styles that kids love to wear every day and made them super cool, durable, water-proof and functional, using an all-over tonal reflective street-wear inspired fabric.
We wanted to start off with what every kid needs, but the costs of meeting minimum orders and holding inventory was outside our budget. We realized if we could pre-sell the back pack and the ball cap, we could cover the deposit required to finish the remaining 3 styles.

What We Need & What You Get
We need 10K to help cover costs of logistics, import taxes and final production payment for our first 2 styles, as well as the deposit to launch the rest of the collection.
We are hoping to make it easy by offering items on Indiegogo that don't require sizing. We've arranged with our factories to push through a limited number of these styles so you can get them quickly. If you order now you will be first in line WITH A DISCOUNT off the retail price. We are also offering the ball cap FREE with the first 50 back-pack orders!
We're also gauging interest in the shoes and jacket that will round out the launch collection. Check out these styles on our website at zappedoutfitters.com and pre-order your size for delivery in November.
The Impact
We want to take this idea to the next level by 2018. Our goal, with your support, is to round out the collection for back to school 2018 by adding jeans, joggers, puffys, hoodies, boots, shoes and everything you need to play hard and be seen.
What about the bigger picture?
Our true goal is to add more light and lightness to the world, in small and big ways.
Zooming in on reflective essentials means less wastefulness on unnecessary clothing, and more intention on practical stuff.
We want to expose our kids to being truly seen and to see others in a brighter light.
As we grow, conversations are underway to partner with organizations whose purpose is to give light to those in need around the globe. Risks & Challenges
We have been in this business long enough to know that there are numerous hurdles to over-come. In fact, we have already jumped over dozens of them getting us this far. We have an incredible team of friends, professionals and industry leaders that are helping us navigate through uncertain terrain, always finding solutions.
Our main concern and biggest risk in a project like this is late production delivery. Being in this industry for 20 years, it’s seems to be a constant challenge no matter how big your brand is. We have successfully produced a small run of quality samples for testing and marketing, which acts as a “mini-production run”. We learned a lot along the way, and ironed out some kinks for what we hope will be a smooth run.
