About the film

After four years in the spot-lights of the porn business the 24 years old Sydney Fernandes – better known as Fostter Riviera – plans his retreat into private life. Is Sydney able to free himself from the overwhelming shadow Fostter or will this ghost linger in his life forever?

The “21×7 – The Public Privacy of Fostter Riviera” is a film documentary that follows the 24 years old Sydney Fernandes for 1 year. Sydney is in many ways a symbol for our age. The Portuguese has a degree Multimedia Product Developer, he escaped from the financial crisis in his country and decided to move to #Germany and make himself a star. Sydney is better known as Fostter Riviera – one of the most popular gay porn actors in the world and the 21×7 (cm) are the brand core of his success. Fostter is a digital phenomenon through his webcam sex shows, live shows or by his presence across social media where he gives to all his fans and followers the feeling that he is always available and proximity, that they actually have. Besides money it is an extraordinary exhibitionism which pushes him to do so.

Four years of unrestrained excess have not passed by without damages. While Fostter took all the applauses, Sydney suffered from a lack of real care and closeness to his beloved ones. To change that he decides to get away from porn and from his shadow Fostter, he decided to build a private little life with a boyfriend and a house.

A big part of the film will focus on his “normal” life at work and, as cleaning houseman at home. We’ll also travel with him to Portugal where the visit of his mother is the highest point, once is the first time she will see the son that recently find out about the fact that for many, many people is Fostter Riviera the gay porn star.

How can Sydney exist between total publicity and private happiness? Will he succeed to get rid off Fostter?

Why we need money

Filmmaking seems to be a very glamorous and rich profession. But reality mostly looks different. The majority of filmmakers are struggling to make their film happen, or even to be able to present it to an audience.

The documentary is going to follow Sydney for a very long period and it is possible to foresee every event and happening we are going to shoot. We need to flexible and mobile to get a portrait which is as complex and interesting as possible.

Thanks to many people who believe and support us in this project we are able to shoot with a very low budget. Nevertheless there will be costs for transport and accommodation. Further on we need to pay for the technic and we can’t expect of camera- and soundmen and -women to work for free for such a long time.
