2391 is a short horror/thriller film based on the works of the SCP Foundation (various authors). The SCP Foundation works on the premise of there being a secret organization dedicated to finding supernatural and otherwise anomalous phenomena and keeping them contained away from the general population.
This short focuses on a small research expedition into the titular object. The main team is composed of a research assistant and two D-class ("disposable") personnel.
My name is Katharine Saranich, and I am the writer, director, and producer of 2391. I have been a fan of the SCP Foundation since coming across it in 2009, although I am not a member of the site and have not written any official entries for it.
I hope that 2391 will be the first of several short films based on entries in the SCP Foundation. While 2391 is based on a nonexistent entry, this choice was made due to time and location constraints. Should this go well, I would like to also create short films based on existing and better-known entries, including SCP-049 and SCP-096.
The single most costly part of this short is costuming. 2391 will include Foundation researchers, D-Class Personnel, guards, and a Mobile Task Force, none of whom can be logically shown wearing typical day-to-day street clothes. As such, costuming alone takes up $355 of the budget.
Props are the second most expensive part of this production. We will be using practical effects as much as possible. As such, the purchase and construction of props requires $250.
The rest of the budget will go towards other aspects of making the film, including food for the cast and crew, gas costs to get to location, equipment rentals, and so on.
In return for your generosity, you will receive rewards including but not limited to: special thanks in the credits, a copy of the film, a poster for the film, and production stills including the construction of SCP-682, which will briefly appear in the short.
This is the first film I have directed, although I have crewed for several of my classmates over the past four years.
Ideally, I would like this film to serve as a supplement to the SCP Foundation stories, and help the concept expand into even more mediums than it already has.
The largest challenge with this film is effects and costuming. However, I have an excellent team working with me for props and special effects, and I am wholly confident that this will be worth the difficulty.
