About The Film Project
A Sense of Purpose:
Fighting For Our Lives tells the story of military veterans who return home from war suffering from
post-traumatic stress disorder, use an unconventional form of therapy – mixed
martial arts – to help them cope and assimilate back into society. Inspired by true stories.
Jillian
Bullock, writer, director and producer, and her producing partner, Delayne Powe
self-financed the short film and received a lot of help from dedicated crew
members – Lamont Fountain, Director of Photography and Karen Vicks, actress,
producer and acting coach, and actors who are featured in the short – John
Joseph Quinlan, Tamara Woods and Charles Astoria. Now that you can see what we
can do by viewing the short film, we are ready to produce a full feature, but
we need your help. We can’t do it alone and this project is too important not
to get done. Over the last six months, all involved in the project have worked
tirelessly to build awareness and support through experiences with fans on
social media. We have kept fans, family and friends in the loop through media,
postings, and videos on Facebook and the movie Youtube channel.
Why Support This Movie
![]()
By supporting A Sense of Purpose: Fighting For Our Lives you
can help bring more attention to major issues, (post-traumatic stress disorder
and military sexual trauma), that affects those who serve in the Armed Forces.
Men and women fight, and die, each day doing their job protecting the freedom
of people in the United States and other countries. For those who make it home,
veterans often begin another fight in their minds. Whether they have a physical
or a mental injury, or both, they need our help.
More Reasons To Care
·
There are an estimated 23.4 million veterans in the
United States.
·
57,849 veterans are homeless on a single given
night.
·
311,688 veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan
were coded with PTSD.
·
18-22 veterans die from suicide each day.
·
26,000 incidents of sexual assault occurred
last year in the military.
Where The Money Goes
To get a movie from script to screen takes money. For this
independent film the budget is less than 1 million dollars, a fraction of the
cost of a Hollywood movie. Keeping costs low is important to the producers in
order to have a better chance of raising the funding needed and getting the
movie completed.
We need your help to raise $200,000 to be used for production.
The money will be used in the following way:
·
Marketing and promotion fees
·
Travel fees to meet with private investors
·
Hire an entertainment attorney and a line producer
·
Rent the best camera equipment to ensure the movie
looks top notch
·
Pay crew and actors who starred in the short film
·
Rent production offices
·
Start production on the feature film
· Pay initial production crew members, like the
director of photographer and producers

Of
course, if we raise more than our goal of $200,000, (we’re keeping our
fingers crossed), here’s what that money can do.
- Pay for even
more great talent, well-known MMA fighters and an A-list actor or two.
- Special Effects –
do a major shoot out scene with Afghan rebels.
- An actual mixed
martial arts fight scene (think boxing and the movie Creed).
- Hire the best
Stunt Coordinators, MMA and Boxing Trainers.
- Secure a top notch
Military Consultant.
- The ability to
shoot on actual military bases.
- Pay for top
notch Editing and Soundtrack with songs by well-known artists. We’re
trying to get Tim McGraw, Chris Daughtry, Pitbull, Fantasia, Mary J.
Blige. Those folks cost big bucks.
Bottom Line: The more
money we raise, the better quality of a movie we can produce. We want to
produce a film you, the backers, will be proud of and of course honor our
military men and women.

Delayne Powe (Producer/Product Placement Manager)
Delayne has been Jillian Bullock’s

the ugly of filmmaking. They went on to
produce “A Filmmaker’s Personal Journey,” “Spirit,” and other short videos and
films.
