Watch my original video and project update here:
Hola!
My name is Chris Gould and I just graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Ever since I was young, I've had a passion for adventure and film. I love putting myself in bizarre situations, turning on a video camera, and seeing what happens. Since I just graduated from college, there seems like no better time to embark upon a life changing journey and document the entire experience on film.
After watching a movie called "The Way" with Martin Sheen, I knew I had found the life changing journey I was looking for. In this movie, Sheen walks the 500 mile trail, known as the Camino de Santiago, in memory of his deceased son. He meets scores of interesting people along the way and sees some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage that has been taken by millions of people for over 1000 years. The entire trail is 484 miles long and takes about 35 days to complete. This means that one must walk between 15 and 18 miles per day to complete the journey on time.
I’m going to make a documentary about my own pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago but I need your help to make it happen!
What I Need
The plane ticket to Spain will cost between $1000 and $1500 depending on how early I can get the flight booked.
Previous pilgrims have recommended bringing 1000 euros for room and board along the way. This converts to a little less than $1200.
The total cost (assuming the plane ticket will cost $1300) will be around $2500.
I’m currently washing windows in my neighborhood so I can buy the equipment I’ll need on my walk. This equipment includes: a high quality backpack ($100-$250), a lightweight sleeping bag ($50-$100), and high quality hiking boots ($100-$200). Any money above my goal of $2500 will go towards my gear and additional video equipment.
