We've outgrown our current aerial studio space!
My name is Kayla Dyches and I've been in circus arts since 2007 and a certified personal trainer since 2012. I've spent these past few years performing and teaching hooping, aerial arts, and getting clients into the best shape of their lives.
In August 2012, I moved to Pennsylvania from Georgia and found a small space to practice and teach others. It's been almost a year now and every month, more and more students have been showing up. It's great! But it happened faster than I would have imagined.
The purpose of this campaign is to help outfit a new, larger studio when my lease ends in September. I'd also like to support the greater circus community by hiring guest instructors to teach workshops and expand my students' interests and skill sets.
By funding this campaign, you'll be helping me to continue to do what I love. You'll also help me share with others, and maybe even you, what I love.
What We Need & What You Get
I've never had a problem paying rent, so your contributions will not be doing what I can do myself. But the new studio space will have higher ceilings and more floor space. So, here's the break down of the whole $5k:
- $500 for tools of the trade (bulk supplies in hand grip, strength training equipment like free weights, swiss balls, training bands, etc)
- $1,500 to purchase additional silks, ropes, and straps to accommodate the new ceiling heights
- $400 for a new apparatus that I will be making myself (it's a surprise!)
- $700 for the first guest instructor(s) workshop
- $1,900 in additional crash pads and foam flooring (just in case, we like safety!)
As a flex funding campaign, there's the possibility we may not receive 100% funding (but I hope we do). So, if we don't, the most important items are the additional silks, ropes, and crash pads. Funds collected after that would be appropriated to tools of the trade, a guest instructos, and then the new apparatus.

The more you give, the more I can give. You don't have to be an aerialist to benefit in funding this campaign. I'm offering aerial lessons as well as personal training sessions (via Skype/Facetime) for those who have no interest in actually participating in aerial. Check out the perks to see your options!
Why?
When I moved here almost a year ago, the Wilkes Barre, PA area did not have an aerial community. Now it does. I'm creating something here that's never been done before and it's becoming successful. More students show up every month. I've taught groups, private lessons, and open sessions. My students have prgressed with their skills and are becoming proficient in aerial dance.
I want to keep pushing them. I want to keep pushing myself.
