Short Summary

Nadia Sasso, Lehigh University student,  is pursing a Masters Degree in American Studies and certification in Documentary Film and will producing "Am I" the Film, with the help of Corey Packer (film cinematographer and trailer editor), for her thesis. The film will be documenting unique stories of women and their identity development between their West African and American cultural experiences.

What Is Needed & What You Get

  • We need additional funding for marketing, post production and one additional interview.
  • Unique perks include gifts from thank you card, Sierra Leone, copies of the film, producer credit and passes to film festival and VIP viewings.
  • If we don't reach our goal we will still use the funds towards what is needed to complete the film.

The Impact

This film, the first in a series that focuses on women, will explore social mobility, settlement practices, re-defining ethnic identity, the effects of language, politics, and religion, and lastly transnational identity formation amongst generational immigrants to the US as well returnees to the host country.

The film will end with a variety ways in which each of this women deal with living in the juxtaposing worlds of their respective West African heritage and the US. It will also show their short term and long-term inner conflicts and how each of their identity development contributes to American society and its added diversity.

Producer, Writer, and Director: Nadia Sasso (@iamNadiaMarie), Lehigh University Graduate Student

Cinematographer and Editor: Corey Packer (@ovipack88), Chest Pound Films
