After a sudden and tragic loss, a man’s healing pilgrimage evolves into a life of nomadism, during which his interpersonal encounters afford him the opportunity to explore the existential questions that initially drove him into the wilderness.
We project that this film will cost approximately $7,500 to produce. We are looking to raise $5,000 of that here through crowdfunding. If we exceed both our goal and budgeted amount, the additional funds will be allocated to additional crew compensation, bolstering post-production, and marketing/festival submissions.
Regardless of the amount raised, we are confident that the support we receive will increase the overall value of the film and are grateful for the support. Bougie Cat Productions is willing and ready to cover the gap between the amount raised and the total cost of production, if needed.
Our budget breakdown is as follows:
Cast: 12%
Craft Services: 9%
Production: 45%
Wardrobe: 3%
Transportation: 9%
Contingencies: 11%
Marketing/Festivals: 11%
Originally a California native, Writer and Director Nathan Roberts now resides in Northwest Arkansas, which is a sliver of the Ozark Mountains. Nathan has been creating short films since middle school, however his fascination with film production dates even further back. After a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood as a child, Nathan had aspirations of working behind-the-scenes on film and television productions, which propelled him into his career and role as the director of Among The Trees.
His philosophical musings, embrace of existentialism, and personal history is the bedrock of this film, making him uniquely qualified to be its director.
Full transparency: this is our first film. Although we've been working in video production for years now, we're excited about all we will learn through this process. In order to keep costs low, we are operating with a skeleton crew and small cast. We believe this will offer both unique opportunities and challenges, the latter specifically in regard to time efficiency.
We are planning on shooting the entire production on one digital film camera. However, should our crowdfunding efforts prove to be exceptionally generous, we believe that acquisition of a second camera will prove to increase our productivity, consistency across scenes, and overall quality.
Whether you're able to give $2 or $2,000, any amount is welcomed and we deeply appreciate your financial contributions. To show our appreciation to our patrons, we are offering the following perks:
