Comic books were always a form of escapism for me growing up, being whisked away to new worlds of adventure, excitement, mystery and action! Now after spending over a decade working in film and media, I’m working hard to bring back that same excitement that got me into reading with my first graphic novel series, BLACK PROJECT.

BLACK PROJECT CHAPTER 1: MECHANISM OF CHANGE is a cinematic graphic novel series that takes you deep into the shadows of conspiracy! Opening the door to a new world where conspiracy theories are true: UFO's, Men in Black, Genetic Experiments and Secret Government Programs all exist as fact under a protected entity known as THE NEXUS.

THE STORY
YEARS AGO a clandestine group, known as THE NEXUS, was on the verge of harnessing the perfect weapon in the form of a small child - until an explosion rocked the facility destroying everything. It was believed that all was lost in the fire, but they were wrong…
Sixteen years later we meet Jack, a simple high school student who one day while being bullied, unknowingly sets off a genetic trigger alerting a strike team of mysterious men in black, Agents of NEXUS, who aim to capture him at any cost! What follows is the harrowing journey Jack must reluctantly take to save not only his own life, but to discover what ‘The Nexus’ is and who is behind this BLACK PROJECT. His only path is to go deeper down the rabbit hole, even if it kills him!

BLACK PROJECT is inspired by classic story lines from shows like 'Unsolved Mysteries', 'The X-Files', and 'Sightings', classic 80's films like 'Starman', 'The Terminator, 'Flight Of The Navigator', then weaving them all together into a tale that follows the classic hero’s journey like 'Star Wars', 'The Matrix', and 'Harry Potter'.

This Campaign and will be the only way to get THIS specific version of this book, in print or digital, thru Indiegogo. We have previously made our books available digitally first on may popular e-book formats, such as Kindle, Comixology, Line Webtoons and SpinWhiz Comics. We've updated those editions recently for a very low cost. Those editions feature only cover art by creator Bulent Hasan and a special making of section as well, but will not be included here. We are extremely excited about this special print edition with the fantastic new cover by Star Wars artist Hugh Fleming, and know you will too!

Black Project is a 6 Chapter graphic novel series, with the first 3 completed!

- Chapter 4: Synthetic Nexus, written is currently in production line art is completed and being painted now, lettering is next, and coming in at 100+ pages!

BLACK PROJECT Chapter 5 (untitled) and Chapter 6 (untitled) stories have been written and on scripting stages.
- Short stories like "IT AWAKENS" by Josh Whittall & Bulent Hasan are completed, with "Open Lines" by Bulent Hasan written (art in production) and will be added to future chapters
- Each chapter is 60+ pages that includes cover galleries and a “making of” section.
- THIS IS THE ONLY way to have this book with Hugh Fleming's cover art in PRINT and PDF through INDIEGOGO!
With three chapters completed, we have more stories to include in future installments that expand on the world of BLACK PROJECT and we find out exactly how UFO’s, alien abductions, secret government programs, genetic experimentation, ancient aliens, and men in black, all tie in together to make one cohesive universe, showing exactly how far of a reach the Nexus truly has.

ABOUT US
CRAZY PENCIL COMICS is a Vancouver, BC based comic book company, creating unique and cinematic experiences in the form of graphic novels.
Founded by Bulent Hasan when he started creating "BLACK PROJECT" in 2014, he brought in his friend and fellow filmmaker, Josh Whittall, in for dialogue writing. Both have a long history in the film industry here in Vancouver as writers, directors, and storyboard artists on multiple features, television series and video games. But they're more than that; they are also life long comic book fans.
Now they apply that unique perspective to their books, cinematic in style, original in concept, binge worthy of a Netflix series, but tell them in a graphic novel format. Their work shows how much they care about immersing you in a new world with a great story!

BULENT HASAN (LEFT, creator/ writer/ artist/publisher ) is a professional storyboard artist from Vancouver, BC. For the last decade he has worked on over five dozen projects ranging from TV, advertising, feature films and video game cinematic sequences. His last few major projects were “Noelle" & "Flora & Ulysses" both for Disney+, “Legion” for Fox, “Legends Of Tomorrow” for The CW, and "Project Blue Book" for History Channel, and also is an instructor of Storyboarding at CG Masters School of Animation. A comics fanatic since childhood, Black Project is his first of many comic series.
JOSH WHITTALL ( RIGHT, dialogue writer & story editor) has an extensive history in film as a 2nd Assistant Director, writer, director, producer and editor. His first independent film "The Gutter Diaries" went on to win awards at the New York Film Festival as well as various international film festivals. He is a fellow comic book creator whose own book, FATE, is currently available on Comixology and explores Government Conspiracies, alien abduction, and mystery, and is currently writing his novel that dives into mystery, robotics, and music.

HUGH FLEMING (cover artist) is an Australian artist who produced cover art for a number of Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars & Indiana Jones series. He’s also credited for painting the first double bladed lightsaber for Star Wars as well as the artist who created the popular “Star Wars Rock Band” poster. He currently lives in Melbourne, Australia with his family creating amazing art for multiple projects and films.
