CADEN is a sci-fi short film that digs into the psychology of the family unit and the morality of advancing technology.
We first became interested in the idea of 3D printing human beings and their
memories when having a discussion about this new ‘industrial revolution.' 3D printing was everywhere and everyone was getting so excited about it. People are starting to print clothing, car parts, human tissue, and soon, organs…But what are the implications further down the road?
We wanted to take this really high concept sci-fi idea and turn it into a fundamentally human story about family and the importance of our connections with each other. Parenting and growing up are hard enough but combine that with technology advancing at a rate faster than we can grasp and you've opened a Pandora's box.
The future is happening all around us, how does it affect our relationships?
*Random Cat Pictures are teaming up with iMakr to turn CADEN into the world's first “3D printable movie”.
iMakr will call out to their network of 3D designers to help us create props for our futuristic film world. Selected props will then feature in our film and the designs will be available to download through the iMakr download platform - MyMiniFactory.com- for free. For the first time audiences will be able to not only watch the film but be able to pull a piece of it off the screen.
This is an exciting, interactive and open-source endeavour - and the first of its kind.
Click here to enter the competition and help us design the future!
We've also added 3D printed perks!!! Check them out.

James and William Hall were born in London to English and Polish parents and are now living in Canterbury.
They have been attending drama classes for the past 3 years and love action films, live performances, sports and adding travel destinations to their list.
They are best friends and think being twins is the coolest thing ever. And yes, they have already tried the switch trick at school.
Susanne was born to a Russian mother and German father in a country that no longer exists: the GDR. Growing up in the Black Forest she immersed herself in amateur acting , arts and tiny protests to save the local library.
In 2001 she moved to London, studied Cinematics, and has since zigzagged from TV Producer/Director via freelance director, startup CEO to full-time Editor. Having directed a number of music videos, art projects and other short format films, she has found a great partner in crime in Amanda and a passion project in Caden. A film that combines her fascination with sociology, impact of technology and the sometimes dark, sometimes humorous intricacies of the human condition.
Amanda was born and raised in New York City where she learned early on that life is our greatest creative inspiration. Her non-professional creative career began at the age of three when her grandmother taught her how to turn any household object into a musical instrument. She got her professional creative start in theatre, writing and directing short plays before moving into filmmaking. Before leaving New York, Amanda worked on various documentaries and since moving to London she has been producing commercials, short films and music promos for clients including: Google, MyAccomplice, Marks and Spencer, British Airways and YouTube.
After toying with many different ideas for her next film, she one day had a spark of inspiration. She met with Susanne and they took that spark and combined it with many bottles of wine, late nights and hours of staring at computer screens. Caden was born.
Ewan Mulligan has worked as a cinematographer for short and feature films, numerous music videos for talents such as Tori Amos and Dirty Goodz, alongside commercials for leading brands listing Carte Noir, Babyliss and Ballantine's Whiskey. He has also shot for leading fashion labels and luxury brands including Paul Smith and Van Cleef and Aparels. Recent credits include Indivision Films' 'Paragraph,' which successfully screened at New York's Tribeca Film Festival, and 'Ibiza Undead' staring Cara Theobald of 'Downton Abbey' and Emily Attack of 'The Inbetweeners.' Currently Ewan is based in London and works across the UK, Europe and the US.
