Intro:

We are a group of students currently in our final year of Film Production at the University of Salford, Manchester. Ceaseless is a project that we believe could be our biggest and best yet. Not only do we have a passion for this project as filmmakers, but we also have the drive to tell this story because we believe it can really bring some underrepresented issues to light.

Ceaseless is a WW1 short film inspired by true events. The idea originates from stories of great-grandparents told by the director's (Charlie Stackhouse) grandparents. From this, he wrote an original script forming the short film Ceaseless.

Funding:

Funding within the film is critical, especially regarding the stage we are at. We must turn to the public to raise funds to make this project possible. The funding will be used across several aspects of production ranging from sourcing locations to buying authentic WW1 costumes. Currently, most of the funds will be used towards locations as this is the most expensive area. Whether it is sourcing or digging a trench, finding a woodland area for a night shoot, or renting a captain’s quarter – locations cost a lot of money.

A significant amount will also be used for props and costumes. We need to make this film historically accurate and obtaining suitable costumes from the WW1 era is tricky. Our production designer (Emma Needham) is already hard at work finding these costumes to use. Some of the money will go towards transport and hospitality, we will be filming in areas we cannot simply travel to on the day of production so we will need to find accommodation and provide catering for cast and crew.

Festivals:

The final segment of the money will be used for film festivals. Film Festivals are a great way for us as upcoming filmmakers to be recognised by the “big leagues”. By entering we gain recognition within the industry and some festivals can reward us with funds for our next film. All festivals help us become established within the film industry. Our producer (Callum Atherton) is already hard at work devising a festival strategy for us to implement after the film is complete.

All aspects of funding have been carefully planned and budgeted to ensure we use your funds to the best capability. With your help, we believe that we will create a project that will not only help us in our careers but will raise awareness and tackle issues within society. It will be a project that is enjoyable for all!
