About our Founder and Author

Salaam / Hello, I'm Hajera, the founder of Shade 7; a new publisher of high quality Pop-up Quranic educational story books & interactive digital 3D apps that help children learn about Islam in a fun way.

I trained and qualified as a banking lawyer in the heart of London. In the summer of 2012, I decided to quit my job and spend my life doing something I was extremely passionate about. I knew I wanted to explore my creative side! 

I had a good think about all the things I’d like to do in my life and thought, if I could do ANYTHING IN THE WORLD, what would it be?

Who could I become that would bring the most benefit to the world as a Muslim woman? I really wanted establish something which would allow me to leave a legacy behind.

Some key things came to mind:

1. On-going beneficial knowledge;
2. ‘Sadaqah jariyah’ (ceaseless charity); and 
3. The hadith, or Prophetic saying that “Seven types of people will be shaded by God under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His.”

Putting knowledge into action

I wanted to turn these key Islamic principles into actions and really make a difference. I'm determined to use my life to create a real legacy in children's Islamic education, not just for me, but for everyone involved.

This project is much more than just publishing children’s Quranic Pop-up Books and 3D apps. It has a much deeper impact and intention for the future of children’s Islamic educational publishing.

We’ve summarised the 7 key things which our project is all about: 

1. Creating a Legacy of outstandingly beautiful, long-lasting resources to pass on beneficial knowledge that teaches children about the importance of faith and the rich, valuable lessons from the stories in the Quran.
2. Creating Exceptional and inspirational designs of the highest quality in the material we publish.
3. Making our published materials Accessible to all children, from all backgrounds and faiths to enjoy. This is highlighted particularly through our commitment with our Charity Partner READ Foundation who champion education for all.  
4. Igniting a curiosity in all children to Discover the profound and exciting and moral stories in the Qur’an. For Muslim children, we hope it will inspire the discovery into the beauty of the Arabic language to understand the depth of these stories further.
5. Creating innovative Educational resources to make learning about Islam truly inspiring and fun for all.
6. Developing a deeper sense of Respect and tolerance in children from an early age towards other faiths and beliefs, bridging gaps and highlighting the similarities in the stories of the Old Testament to the Quranic stories in particular – something which will develop further as our series progresses.
7. Developing a child’s Spiritual needs and interests as they grow older, cultivating an awareness of their Creator and creating a bond with Him through fond memories of reading these sensational stories.

To date, many have sacrificed an incredible amount of time, goodwill and shown real belief and support in the worthwhile nature of this project. All the work on the book, from the illustrations, to the graphics, to the website, to all the important logistical stuff that no one really gets to see, like the accounts, legalities, advising and mentoring has ALL been done for FREE!

We feel truly blessed and thankful for everyone that's supported and worked with us to be a part of our journey so far.  

We’ve got some really exciting titles in our line-up for the Qur’anic Pop-up book series to bring to market if (God Willing) this campaign is successful!

Our Charitable Commitment 

At Shade 7 we firmly believe in supporting the religious, spiritual and educational development of all children.

Our commitment is to donate a minimum of 25 books for every 1,000 copies sold as gifts to less fortunate children around the world via our Charity Partner READ Foundation (Registered Charity Number 1114808) whose focus is on education for children in rural areas.

About the 3D Interactive App

If we raise enough support, we want to create an exceptional App, with great graphics mimicking the paper-engineered feel of the books and incorporate a level of interactivity that both parents and children will enjoy.  

Parents will also have an option to record their own voice on the Surah Al-Fil App so the child can hear the story in a familiar voice when mum or dad might not be free to sit and read with them.

There’ll also be plenty of other special treats in store!
