Come On Up to the House
Hi! My name's Dane Cobain and I'm an independent writer, poet and occasional musician. Come On Up to the House is my fifth release, a book that's been in the making since 2010 when I studied screenwriting as part of my creative writing studies at university.
Come On Up to the House is a horror novella and screenplay that follows the story of the Jersey family as they move into a house that's haunted by the spirit of a teenager who committed a bloody suicide. By supporting this campaign, you'll help to cover the cost of the editing and marketing involved to get the book out into as many people's hands as possible. And the more that people read it, the more likely it is that someone will take the screenplay and turn it into a movie!
What We Need & What You Get
This IndieGogo is a little different to most, because it's also a way for you to pre-order the book. As far as funding goes, it's a case of the more funding the project receives, the better. All funding from this IndieGogo will go towards marketing costs, and so the more that people pledge, the more that people will hear about it.
It's also set up as a flexible goal, which means that your pledges will go through whether the project meets the (arbitrary) goal of £500, which was chosen because that's the minimum amount that IndieGogo allows you to specify.
In return, backers receive a number of unique perks, depending upon how much they pledge, including:
- Signed paperbacks ahead of the public launch
- Your name included in a list of backers in future releases
- Bookmarks, business cards and other goodies
- A bespoke poem written using words of your choice
- Copies of my other books
The Impact

This is my second horror book, and my first was probably my most successful release to date after it was published by Booktrope and reviewed dozens of times on major retailers' websites. Plus, you'll be helping me to pursue my career as a writer!
Risks & Challenges
There are no real risks or challenges as the book is already undergoing its final edit, with cover art created and ready to go. The project would come to fruition without IndieGogo - it just wouldn't reach as many people.
