About The Show
CONDUIT is a 60-minute show comprised of three pieces celebrating the body as a vehicle for energies, stories and connections. First, Jenn Edwards will be premiering 'Other Creatures,' a quirky dreamscape based on the odd characters inhabiting the films of Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos. Next, Jennifer Aoki unveils 'Viewer Discretion,' inspired by the media frenzy surrounding our current political landscape. Closing the night is Edwards' 'Conduit,' a dreamy, abstract piece based on the movements of orchestral conductors, which premiered in Vancouver in October, 2016. Featuring an ensemble of extraordinary dancers, original music by James Coomber and Jakob Liljenwall, and lighting design by Jonathan Kim, CONDUIT is a full-bodied, eclectic exploration of the strange world around us.
About Us
We are a group of independent dance artists in Vancouver who have been collaborating on various projects over the last two years.'The Body Orchestra' started out as a nickname for a section of movement in 'Conduit,' and has grown to encompass our identity as a diverse group of movers who find harmony as a tight ensemble.

What We Need & What You Get
Our $7000 goal is about one third of the funds needed to bring CONDUIT to Calgary and pay all dancers, composers and designers fairly for their hard work. The rest of the funds will come from ticket sales and other fundraising efforts leading up to the festival. Studio space, usually one of the largest expenses for a dance performance, has been generously covered by The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, SFU's School for the Contemporary Arts, and Marc's Madness Dance Studio. Your contributions will go towards:
- Artist Fees and Per Diems
-Transportation costs
-Costumes and Props
-Marketing Materials
Any and all contributions will be immensely helpful to this production. Even if we do not reach our $7000 goal, all funds will go towards making this production a success and repaying our dancers, composers and designers for the hours they have already contributed.
To show our gratitude we are offering donors signed photos, DVDs of the show, a chance to sit in on a Body Orchestra rehearsal, and even a customized yoga or dance class!
