Hello Indie Horror Friends and Fans!

My name is Justin M. Seaman and I am the Co- Producer along with Zane Hershberger. We are the team that brought you the retro throwback horror film 'The Barn' and currently in production 'The Barn Part II'. Also just recently completed is 'Force to Fear' an 80s' action flick in the vein of 'Savage Streets' meets 'The Collector'. We have been working together since 2013 on various other projects with other films including '10/31', '10/31 Part 2' and 'Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories'.

What is 'CRYPTIDS'?

'Cryptids' is a creature feature horror anthology that takes place in a radio station on a show called "The Truth Serum" hosted by Major Harlan Dean. On tonight's episode Harlan decides to tackle the topic of cryptozoology but as the phone lines light up and the calls come in, each caller's stories become increasingly more bizarre and Harlan starts to question if real dangers are lurking outside the station.

The film is meant to bring back our favorite days of films and television shows like Creepshow, Monsters, Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt. Using as much practical FX with the monsters as we can and keeping the CGI to a minimum. You can expect to see such legends as Bigfoot, Loveland Frogman, Chupacubras, Beast of Bladenboro, Dover Demon and more!

The Origins

The idea of Cryptids began because Zane bought a book as a child at a school book fair called "Monsters You Never Heard Of" by Daniel Coen and it sparked a love of monster stories ever since. Growing up listening to Art Bell's Coast to Coast he thought it seemed like a no brainer to tell a story about callers who call in to a radio show with their monster encounters and thus 'Cryptids' was born. In 2013, Zane started the project but his original team jumped ship after he shot his segment "Melon Heads". After becoming friends with Zane on the set of 'The Barn' in 2016 I decided I would help him resurrect his project and help him take it to the finish line, we just didn't realize it would be such a long line haha.

Staying true to Zane's vision, we met and brought on board various indie filmmakers to direct segments in the film including: Brett DeJager of 'Bonejangles', Max Groah of 'Bong of the Living Dead', Johnny William Holt of 'The Dooms Chapel Horror' and Billy Pon of 'Circus of the Dead' plus our long time FX artist Robert Kuhn.

We still had 2 main segments left to film plus the wraparound radio show called "The Truth Serum with Major Harlan Dean". We spent about 2 years looking for the perfect person to play Harlan Dean and luckily while working the convention circuit I met just the person I was looking for while in Lexington Kentucky at Scarefest 2018. After quite some time working out the details I was finally able to land Mr. Monster Vision/ The Last Drive-In himself...Joe Bob Briggs!

I'm not gonna lie, a big chunk of the funding was for this scene and we needed it before we could shoot so we had everything ready to film for April 2020. The campaign was ready to launch first week of March and then the pandemic hit. We just couldn't in good conscious make the campaign live, so we decided to postpone the shoot and wait. In fact if you have a copy of the May issue of SCREAM magazine you'll see our ad in there that we prepaid to coincide with the ending of our original campaign.

Then we rescheduled our shoot for July 2020, we took what savings we had left and we built the sets, hired the actors, booked the flights, accommodations etc and we shot the segment. Joe Bob nailed it!

The campaign means a lot to us because we need your help to finish this film, we've been self funding this project since 2013 and now with the additional blow of the pandemic we don't have the capital to complete the remainder of the film anytime soon.

What We Need & What You Get

• How much are you raising and why? We are looking to raise $23,000.00 - Why that much? Well because we still have 2 more segments to shoot and we've spent roughly 70% of that overall over the years so far and we still have to spend a minimum of another $10k to complete the film and cover the manufacturing of the perks as well as the shipping/fees for Indiegogo. We know that the total amount we are asking will not cover the cost of the overall film nor the additional expenses that are sure to arise in the future but this will at least get us to a place were the film can be completed.

• Can we see the film before the Indiegogo perks are shipped? It's still undecided if the film will be submitted into film fests or not due to the pandemic, it is something we will decide once the film is completed and we see how the world is at that time. We would love to enter the film into film fests if possible so we may have the opportunity to reconnect with our filmmakers, friends and fans in person one day again. Otherwise we have discussed at minimum a tour of the film even if its only at drive-in theaters or smaller theaters to help with additional funds before the physical release.

• What do you get in return for supporting us? Well all kinds of great perks from posters to T-shirts, DVDs, Blurays that are signed from the directors and even Joe Bob Briggs himself!

Risks & Challenges and FAQ

• What is the biggest challenge?  Our biggest challenge outside of not having the remaining funds to complete the film at the moment is COVID-19 limiting when we can film and when our segment directors can film safely. We will continue to work on the project as long as everyone involved feels comfortable and safe on set.

• What if you don't reach your goal? This isn't an ALL or NOTHING campaign so if we don't reach our total we will receive what we raise minus larger platform fees. However, if we don't reach our goal the film will still get made, it will just take even longer to finish.

• What about stretch goals? We'll discuss those if we get close to the goal haha

• If you have self funded it this far, why not just continue it by yourself?  The goal was to always start out self funding and then continue and finish with crowdfunding, but the project became so on going that we never had a chance to do the crowdfunding portion. Normally we make most of our funds going to conventions and selling our other films but this year has killed that for us and we have no idea what next year will bring so we are truly hoping that this campaign can help us complete this project while allowing all of you to finally be a part of something we have been working on behind the scenes secretly for a very long time.
